Sounds like Epic has looked at Bungie's forums some. The Horde mode was something that was petitioned for on Halo 3 as players wanted to weather as many Covenant Waves as possible in a survival mode. 12,000 or so replies to the petition at least (haven't checked bungie forums in a long time) The Horde mode is going to be awesome it sounds.
