True, but my point was that more big games have found that mass appeal on the DS than pretty much any other system. Pokemon, Kart, NSMB, Nintendogs, Brainage games, just look at all the huge amounts of games these titles sold.

If the DS has something to do with that, maybe it could also move a few more copies of DQIX than the PS2 could have. That's the thinking at least. If it wasn't for that FFXII demo, I would say that yes it would. Particularly with the DS' popularity in Japan, which is the target market for DQ games.

btw, have we even seen any screen shots to dq9 yet? know anything about how it will play on the ds? because they seem to really like the cell shaded look that they gave 8 and it was popular and they used it in the wii game with a really long name.

 

2d sprites= Win  I hope the gameplay is just as good as DQVIII's , but having a better story. Also it should lay off a little on the grinding. I think they are going to add some nice touch controls to compensate for the graphics being downgraded. I've only played VIII, but I'm going to get all of the DS remakes, and IX.

You are going to be in for a big disappointment if you think the story is going to be much better.  The DQ games have never had great stories.  I don't know that for sure though since the only DQ game I played was VIII.

Well I've heard that the um Zenithia trilogy had a pretty good story. Wouldn't they want to improve the weak areas of previous DQs, especially if they are making a downgrade in terms of visuals.

The visuals may be downgraded but for a DS game, they look beautiful.  The story could be good or it could be the same 'teens save the world' story that JRPGs seem to love to use.

^ Just because its teens save the world doesn't mean the story will be bad. Anyway I think we should wait and see, and I should play some more DQ main series games before judging the general story of the series.

graphics look amazing, I was expecting something maybe like FF12 revenant wings, but that looks amazing.  It actually looks like a game made this century.  I like to give my neighbor a bad time about his DS about it looks like Nintendo tried to shrink the snes and make it make 3d games.  I don't know what all those characters are doing on screen though, is it going to be like FF8 where your entire party follows you maybe? and you will probably being using the stylus to manage your inventory by those pics.

Damnit, I think I hate you know.  I am really considering getting a DS to play me some Dragon Quest after seeing those pics.

I know that teens saving the world doesn't necessareily make a bad story.  In fact, I really liked FFX's story.
