FFCC is low budget? Have you seen the trailer released last year? That looks far from being "shovelware."

Also, who cares if they wanna make spin-offs and such? They're not supposed to ONLY release main series.

Where is it,I haven't heard about it for awhile?

@OP

Intersting thread,I agree with you to a certain extend I would fully but there is DQ IX.

That trailer looks impressive but rember I said that the recent S-E games on Nintendo low budget or lackluster which FF:CC on Gamecube most certianly was IMO. I cannot comment on the yet to be released Wii version. Will it be a AAA title? Who knows.

@Soriku: That FF:CC trailer sucks.

However it is rumoured that the game would be done over with Crystal Tools as the engine(even though I'm 99.9% sure that it was to bring FFXIII to Wii but Iwata wouldn't moneyhat SE).
So the next one might look good.

I think more of a FFXIII side story that the real installment.

If what you said were to happen. SE needs to first gather an army and have M1 tanks patrolling around their offices before the announcement. Many PS3 fans will be a little pissed.

A FFXIII spinoff will come.

But anyone who was following Wada's statements from Nov07 to Jan08 would have realized that his frequent visits with Iwata and his constant blabbering about wanting Nintendo.

In a previous thread I had this to say:

"This was when Wada wanted Nintendo to ensure him that rpgs could sell well.He commented that Nintendo didn't focus on stuff like Zelda in their ads(he called Zelda an rpg).

SE wanted the Wii to fail during the holiday season.After it didn't Wada couldn't shut up about how Sony and Nintendo were confusing him and kept flip-flopping on whether he liked them or not(Do a search and see the number of bullshit statements with PS3 and Wii from Nov07 to Jan08).

Incidentally Crystal Tools was ported over and anyone with half a brain would have realized that he wanted to bring FFXIII over to Wii because he was worried about the PS3.If anyone thinks that SE would waste time and effort porting that engine for FF:CC or believe "it was multi-platform all along" as SE later claimed(lie) needs to have their head checked.

However it seems that SE thought too highly of themselves and probably wanted Nintendo to moneyhat them.Iwata said no.I am 99.9% sure of this.

Then the "Wii is a toy"statement came out and was followed by another statement where he flipped again and he had to explain what he meant by calling the Wii a toy.

Wada is a fucking asshole who can't think before he opens his trap.Tools like him need to be stabbed in the face."

Just look for articles between those two dates and see his constantly shifting opinions with both Sony and Nintendo and you will see that their is nothing surprising about what I'm saying.The simplest answer is usually the correct one.

Prediction:
Disney will make KH3 with Nintendo.Yes,KH3 will be a Disney/Nintendo crossover.

I think SE is using the wii to make money because thats why your in the buisness, to make money... just as they wish to do with FF13.

Nintendo though RPGs wouldn't sell well?  They were blind if they did

The last great selling Final Fantay game was FFX in 2001. Its franchise is not the bright ball of luster it was in the 90's when anything associated with it was high quality. Final Fantasy XIII is gonna be met with tons of skeptism after all the shovelware sqare enix is known for these days. I could be wrong but I wasnt about Metal Gear Solid 4 so far.

Final Fantasy was king in the PS 1 days, now the new kings are GTA, Halo, Call of Duty, and Guitar Hero, ironically all on the Xbox 360. MGS 4 has failed to excite all but the die hard fans.

Leetgeek is largely correct on this one.

But it goes beyond just FFXIII, it covers FFXIII VS, Crystal Tools development and more.

However, amortizing costs is done by all publishers. It just currently happens that Wii/DS are providing a disproportional amount.

The debate here lies with the idea that too many of the Wii/DS titles are lower budget for the sole purpose of funding the higher end titles and engine. This is half correct. The titles fit the market they are on BUT, as suspected, they also provide the funding behind the incredibly expensive high budget titles.

Thank you for understanding the point I was trying to make.

Fixed.

Yes.SE thought rpgs would fail on Wii because they wanted it to fail in their minds.The Christmas Season of 07 brought them back to reality.
