Why would anyone buy PC that costs $2000? Also 'outdated'? The only way you play your games is all maxed out? You can play crysis with older machines on low. ( I think my comp did run crysis with medium and thats not what PS360 can do. :) )

Oh you can play Crysis on Medium, really ? Well then I think your PC will also has no problems with MGS4, Uncharted, GT5P, Halo 3, PGR4 and Forza 2 .... oh wait.

@mrstickball:

nicely done

Uh, all I can say(Not going to comment those monster posts.) that what is HD gaming? I have played every game with 1280x1024 resolution since 2004. Can PS360 do it? ;)

Those rpgs

@Barozi

It doesn't have any probs with Mass Effect(X360 did have :D). Crysis on medium requires a lot more resources than PS360 can handle.

Yes, that is lower than 1080p.

How many 1080p games there are?

So why have you been playing your games at 1280x1024?  Just like it huh?

mrstickball I am not in a position as to see the consoles themselves and therefore cannot check what type they are. All I see are the boxes in the office and by seeing this it makes me think twice about buying one. They all may be older models that are susceptible to RROD but if you had a choice between product A(PS3 or Wii) with basically 0% problems and product B with returns due to technical problems which one would you choose. If you reread my post I did say it has the best games and I am considering buying one. But I am reluctant about doing it.

Actually, being in the retail position, there is not a 0% problem rate with either. I've seen 5 Wii's come back in the last month and PS3's also have problems. Granted, it's not as high as the margin for the 360 but there are still problems occasionally. It all just depends

I agree. But in the 21 months that the Wii has been on sale I have seen 3 come back as defective. Thats about a weeks worth for the 360. And I am yet to see a PS3 come back at all. But we do not sell many as our company doesn't push the PS3 as well as it should.

How many are worth playing? If you did a year by year, side by side comparison, I don't think that, when you look at decent to good RPGs, theres really going to be a ton of weakness on the X360's side versus the PC. Name a few big RPGs to launch only on the PC in the past 2 years...The Witcher? Eschalon? Those are the only 2 I can think of at the moment that aren't on a console.

And how many good RPGs are released on Xbox 360? I checked Gamerankings, and it said there were only 15 RPGs out for it, in almost 3 years. Then I checked decent rated RPG exclusives and 360 only had Lost Odissey, Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata and Enchanted Arms.

While PC had in the last 2 years:

The Witcher
World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade
The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar
Neverwinter Nights 2
Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer

Tabula Rasa
SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars
Titan Quest
Titan Quest: Immortal Throne
Space Rangers 2: Rise of the Dominators
Dungeon Runners
Pirates of the Burning Sea
Guild Wars: Eye of the North
Guild Wars Factions
Guild Wars Nightfall

And some more...

In it's lifetime, Xbox 360 only had 9 games over 70% rated.... while PC had 35 games over 70% in the same period. Ofcourse I can't personally judge the quality of them since I didn't play them.

$1000 USD or Euro? Ok. So a 2 year old computer can play a 2 year old game like GalCiv, but can't play anything relatively new or graphical like ME, Crysis, AC, DMC4 and so on. Again, huge problem with your argument. A 3 year old Xbox 360 can handle the games you just mentioned that your brother's PC cannot....For 1/3rd the price (or less if we're talking Euro).

1000 Euro, but at that time the Euro was weaker or around the same as the American Dollar. And we're talking about 5 year old systems... does a 5yo Xbox play today's games? No.

A 2 years and 8 months old 1000$ PC would definitely play all games currently (2y and 8m was around release of X360), but an upgrade would be wise. Btw, at that time the Xbox 360 cost 400$.

GOG doesn't exist yet (great concept BTW, that I'm looking for). Steam doesn't cover the entire market. Neither does Stardock, Direct2Drive, EA Store, and so on.

No DD covers the entire market, which is too bad, but atleast they're free, and Steam does cover most of the major PC games.

3 great PC exclusives from EA. I can name atleast 3 games from EA and Capcom that aren't coming to the PC: Rock Band, Mega Man 9, Army of Two. Oh, and Battlefield Bad Company, Facebreaker...And about 15 other titles.

Rock Band was never the type of game that was on popular on PC, but recently Guitar Hero franchise seems to have found some profit, because they're now releasing them on PC.

Mega Man 9.... sory but there's higher quality and innovative free games than that. If we do want to compare it to a game of the same pricepoint, then there's Audiosurf.

Army of Two....lol.

Battlefield: Bad Company... ok, probably a good game from what I heard. But there's Battlefield Heroes coming to PC (and is free) in the summer, plus the inevitable PC exclusive Battlefield 3.

Facebreaker... might be decent, but it definitely isn't in hte league of Spore and Dragon Age.

Other 15 titles? Maybe if you count the DS games, PSP games, and the milked NFL, NCAA, NBA sports games.

Every few years, I hear the same argument that "With the rate of graphics, and them coming obsolete, there's no need to upgrade this computer". I heard that argument first from a person advising me that a Pentium 100mhz would be enough to game on for years to come. Guess not, hunh?

Bullshit, I never heard someone say that in the 90's. Think, 10 years ago the graphics were primitive, and 3D was only starting to take baby steps.. there was still a HUGE amount of progression in terms of visuals.

Today, the graphics are reaching a plateau, and in a few years the only difference most are going to see between High-quality and Low-quality settings of a game is being able to see the pores of the characters' skins.

The technology is also much cheaper than 10 years ago. When $1000 only lasted you 3 years, 10 years ago... Today, with that same price, it will last you 6 years of playing ALL games, and 4 more years of playing some more games.

Also, the reason PC games drop quicker is due to something call "price collapses" when games don't sell enough, the price collapses as retailers try to dump the game. Games get dumped on the 360 just like the PC. Dark Messiah of Might & Magic was $30 USD within 2 months of its debut. So it happens with X360s. I'll agree that PC games are (on average) $10 cheaper. So you'd save maybe $300, but far from the $600-700 that your talking about.

Alot of PC games are very successful. The reason PC games tend to drop faster is that there is a much bigger competition in the PC market: There are alot more games getting released on PC than any other platform, and then you have the old and cheap games that keep selling for years.

Most PC gamers buy their games at $30 or less, that's a fact.

@ZenfoldorVGI:

We know there's a free XBL type, but not getting Gold is, basically, cutting Xbox 360's library in half. The reason people play for XBL Gold is just to be able play online, some thing PC gamers do it for free.

EDIT: I derailed the thread completely, so if a Mod is going to penalize me, I won't hold a grudge.

Because I have old GPU. I am going to buy one soon. (Actually I am going to buy one with 1GB when they don't suck and don't cost a fortune. I just want to play around with shaders and stuff. 256MB is way too little, 512MB is just a bit too little, 1GB will be fine ^^)

a chance of RROD lol.

And therein, as the Bard would tell us, lies the rub.
