I wouldn't really call L4D's campaign SP, but it certainly can be played with one person, and it can certainly still be awesome. One correction, you don't turn into a zombie when you die...there's a campaign mode, then a "vs" mode or something like that.   When you die, you die...at least until your team reaches a checkpoint...you can respawn there if the rest of them make it.

In the campaign mode, the "boss infected" are AI controlled...for a more cinematic campaign I suppose. In the vs. mode, there's 4 survivors and 4 player-controlled boss infected.  You pick a team from the start, no switching over.  It's a lot like campaign, but slightly different? That part has yet to be revealed, so none of us know enough about it yet. It will be awesome though.

I think this was a bad topic, as these games are so different.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up! I always felt the way they blended the two together made it a little confusing, but seeing as we lack some knowledge here I can better understand why it's confusing :P

I suppose the best part about L4D is the co-op...and you won't understand that from watching a video, especially one where the players suck and shoot their teammates and wander out alone.

I'm not saying L4D is better than R2, I'm just trying to explain what L4D is about. And for me, it's about the co-op gameplay. Once my friends and I act as a unit, it'll be an intense experience.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

L4D in every possible way haha. I mean Resistance 2 is just your run of the mill shooter. At least L4D has something new about it than what ya have seen before.

I think you are absolutely right!

And yes, you are also right in this being a bad comparison. Even the co-op options these two games offer are hard to compare.

@ zucas

You obviously don't know enough about resistance if you're saying is you everyday run of the mill shooter.

R2 is the much better game in every way. L4D is just mindless shooting with no tactics or anything.

Buahahaha. This is a funny post

Twesterm, it's a multiplayer game, but the big selling point of L4D is the AI Director...it controls when and where zombies spawn. If the gamers are wiped out after a huge fight, the Director will slow things down for tension...then release another wave at the right time.

It checks for your mood and stress based on what's going on to play procedural scary music...and this AI Director, by its nature, will work on any custom map you give it...which is really awesome, no more drawing bot paths for the AI to walk around on.

I'd definitely give L4D the AI award hehe.

I know what the director is (I even made something *very* similar in Quak4 before the game was announced) just when I think AI I like to think of the actual enemies.  I completely agree the director is awesome, I'm just thinking of the enemies.

Yes you're probably right about the actual enemies, though I don't think the infected will disappoint at all...they're pretty much mindless, but they'll have no trouble with turning corners, climbing obstacles, etc on any map.

Given the complexity of R2's battles though, I guess you could chalk up individual AI to it...assuming it doesn't disappoint.

i have nort seen enough game-play for resistance 2. i will wait until after e3 to answer to this thread

Weapons- Insomniac's big thing has always been crazy weapons, so I have no doubt they will deliver in that category. In Left 4 Dead I've only seen shotguns and machine guns, but I don't think that is really the game's selling point anyway so: Resistance 2

Enemies- Zombies are cool; not that it hasn't been done before, but things might get boring aside from the giant bosses. The Chimera are an alien race so there's a lot more room for new enemies and innovation. I'm especially liking the 300 ft. Leviathan.

AI- From a technical perspective Resistance 2 would win because of more sophisticated individual AI patterns, but the spawning system where enemies pop-up behind you and where more enemies focus on particular players sounds really cool. Left 4 Dead

Art Direction- Resistance's 1950's America mixed in with Chimera architecture is interesting, but the screen effects Valve is using (grain effects, washing out the color) makes the game seem as though you are really in a zombie movie. Left 4 Dead

Replay value- Resistance 2 has a 60 player online that uses 6 man squads to keep things controlled - and you can still play ranked games as small as 3v3, an 8 player online co-op with classes and randomized geometry to keep the levels fresh, a single player
campaign and a split screen co-op.

Graphics- once again from a technical persective it would have to be Resistance 2.

Sales-  As far as console sales go I think it would most likely be in Resistance 2's favor but I'm not sure how many units will come in through steam.

Overall- I'm going to have to say Resistance 2 mainly because I love Insomniac games and I know more about it.
