Forums - Gaming - Left 4 Dead vs Resistance 2

Yea, I know, the games are too different to compare blah blah blah... If you are going to say that, please jump off a brigde you peace making douche. (actually please don't, I don't need the lawsuit)

Anyway, I heard some idiots on the gametrailers forums arguing over this so for anyone that cares, what's your opinion?

Two huge FPS's releases around the same time on competing platforms, both coming from highly revered developers Valve and Insomniac Games. As to why I think the games are completely comparable; just watch the videos:

Left 4 Dead gameplay: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/35429.html

Resistance gameplay: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/35172.html

Edit*

Which game do you think will be better in each of the following catagories.

Weapons-

Enemies-

AI-

Art Direction-

Replay value-

Graphics-

Sales-

Left 4 Dead isn't made by Valve - Valve just bought the formerly independent dev that's making the game.

Oh, and you're an idiot and these comparison threads suck. Since that's what you seem to want me to say.

You're right, it isn't, but it still uses steam and has many valve employees working on it. That's why you see the logo wherever the game shows up.

An if you don't have an opinion pertaining to the games themselves then GTFO...idiot.

Check the facts, please, and quit the name-calling.

Valve was helping development back in Jan '06 on Left 4 Dead...while helping Turtle Rock, they bought them...now Valve helps them even more.  Turtle Rock operates from their original location most of the time, but they communicate and work with Valve every day over their own network, and Valve sends people to work with them...it has always been a joint project, only now Turtle Rock is simply part of Valve.

And I'm much more excited about Left 4 Dead than Resistance 2, but I don't own a PS3 anyway.  Left 4 Dead is really one of the first online 4 player co-op shooters, built extensively and exclusively for co-op play, compared to a few others that just have it as a throwaway option.  Plus it has zombies.  Plus it has a revolutionary AI director that controls the flow of the game on any map, custom or normal, it works all the time.  Plus you can be the zombies.  It's all sweet.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I'm definitely getting both games myself and I believe if you love Left 4 dead, then you'll enjoy the Resistance 2 co-op as-well. It has an 8 player online co-op with its own campaign. I don't know if it will be worth burning 450$ over, but you may want to consider it.

Yeah I don't have that in the cards right now hehe. I do have a friend with a PS3 though so hopefully he'll get it.

I'm going to go with Left 4 Dead since I prefer Valve's games.

To me it's not even a comparison. Left 4 Dead is doing something revolutionary and i can't wait to see how it plays out.

The Ai director is the newest and most innovative thing i've ever seen in a FPS in a while. (Well except i guess portal?)

If it works out it will have some nice implications for most genres of games.

Well,in this side of the table I pick Resistance 2 over Left 4 Dead,why?because I got a PS3 and I love the Resistance's history/plot and gameplay.

State a side this fact I really desire a PS3 port of L4D,there's a rumor about making a port after some time of being launched on the PC/360,hopes this is true because the game looks very nice and love zombie's games, but if I got to pick just one then I stuck to my Resistance 2

Left 4 Dead is gonna be awesome.
