Forums - Sony - big mistakes sony made with ps3 and I don't see real plans

sure, i think everyone knows that Sony has made big mistakes with the ps3, but i dont think Sony's main goal was to continue to dominate the gaming industry
their main goal was basically to win the format war with blu ray by including blu ray in their console
of course, they have accomplished that, and now they have a lot of work ahead to gain some marketshare again in the gaming industry.

LOL. From PS3 domination to I don't think they wanted to do good? Whats next they want be in last place in the console race and in the handheld race. CHECK!! Yea this was all part of SONY's plan. And for those fanboys who think they will end up in second place I doubt it but hey you guys seem to think its all right. LOL.

its hard to understand i know, but to me it seems clear that sony did not really want to sell very many ps3's when they first came out because they were so expensive to produce, people see a 600 dollar machine and a 250 dollar machine and buy there kids the 250$ one, the Wii really cut sony's losses down in the beginning and at the same time sony mustv'e help the wii gain alot of popularity. back when these machines came out people were pissed over ps3

This post wins the award for the "Post of the Decade".

Quoted for absolute truth. I couldn't agree with you more. The only people who have ever bought a Wii and will ever buy a Wii are parents buying the cheapest console for their little kids who have no idea what a good games console is and will be happy with anything.

Lucky your sig clearly indicates your a wii owner, because the lack of /sarcasm in your post might throw a few people off into actually thinking you were being serious.

At david, your comments are absolutely ridiculous, sony wants to sell less because they cost so much to produce (ps3's)? You do realise, if they didn't sell them at the higher price, them selling it at the lowered price means they made a larger loss of those high production cost consoles. What they would have wanted was to push as many high production cost PS3's out the door as quickly and as high a price as possible in order to minimise loss, in selling more, they produce more, meaning they are able to make the process more efficient and reduce the costs of production and then hopefully shift that to a cut in console sale price. They failed to do that, and that's why they are licking their wounds and causes PS3 fanboys to come up with your own illogical reasons as to why it as all intentionally done as part of "sony's grand plan"

Why does your "logic" not extend to microsoft, who should have benefited because they are sony's competitor and pushing a less expensive console as well, oh wait it doesn't because you don't want it to.

Also, this generation isn't over yet, sony has plenty of time to make up for it's mistakes and it is riding on the momentum of brand name at the moment. I however, believe that if the nintendo name can be tarnished in one generation (Gamecube) that MS can build one in this generation. Eventually sony has got to put out heavy hitting exclusives or else people will jump ship. The race for 2nd place is far from over.

AND lastly, I guarantee you white_box, sony will not be able to sell 100 million PS3's this generation (if this generation is considered ended when the wii and 360 are no longer the flagship consoles of their respective companies).

I don't think it's about Sony mistakes as much as the Big N huge success. PS3 is no doubt the best console Sony ever made yet the Wii put the Big N back on top. After the big blow Wii gave PS3 especially in Japan it didn't take much for Xbox360 to get advantage over the expensive PS3.
I'm still amazed how Wii sales blows away both HD consoles.

So Sony did a lot of things right with the PS3 but in the end Nintendo came away with the victory.

победителей не судят.

People will forget all sony mistakes, when PS3 will dominate in sales and in games. =)
Yeah, ps3 could do much better, but you people will get LittleBigPlanet, and should be thankful for that. =)

Do people make accounts on here just to make doomsaying threads?

The ps3 is DOOOOOMED!

The 360 is RARRRRRR!!!

The wii is a faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!

We all know all three consoles have problems but honestly PS3 has the most by far. In terms of problems its something like this PS3 >>>>>>>>>>>>(360+Wii)*10

I would completely disagree with this.  I would rate it PS3=360>>>>>>>>>Wii*100.

Don't underestimate the RROD damage.  MS should be MUCH further ahead of the PS3 right now.  It would probably be at 25 million or so if not for RROD.  Quality issues usually stay with a brand.  It could follow the xbox into the next generation.

This guy. The RRoD really brings down the 360 just as much as the PS3s price brings it down.

WHY? You can get it fixed for free and they usually throw in a free arcade game or live while for the PS3 you still have to pay for it.

Talking about market share in America, the ps2 in 2003 about 62%. Now the ps3 market share is 17.6% in America. Mistakes have been made.

Mistakes certainly have been made. In fact, Sony has been a mistake machine. However, I dunno if we can blame the loss of exclusivity on them, since it depends on many factors, including development cost, the relative good sales of the 360 HW/SW, and yes, the realtively poor performance of the PS3 verses the PS2.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.
