First off, the guns you get later aren't that much better, most of the good stuff that most people tend to play with you get fairly quick, my favorite setup is:
M60, Red Dot Sight, Matardym, Juggerenaut. I got all that in a matter of 6 hours of playing and most of it within 2 hours. Noobs, don't even know what works best for them, so it's better off that they don't have many options, why give better guns to noobs?

Secondly Prestige mode wipes out all the unlocked content, so there is plenty of experienced players running around with the default weapons.

Your logic applied we should not reward people for playing longer. You forget not all people get better the longer they play, and that's more frustrating then anything, so unlocking items is exciting, to think you may play better once you unlock ___ gun, or perk.

Halo only rewards one kind of player, in my opinion that's the worst thing, and how is halo any different as far as guns go? Noobs don't know where the weapons are, I can run pick up the overshield, and run and grab the sticky grenades and wipe the floor clean. other people who are really good at aiming on the run, don't ever need to be skilled at hiding or spotting guys. I've hid in corners and sneeked around and shot some guy in the back and over and over again these kids with great aim turn around and always beat me in a dual. COD4 is a much more even playing field since when you start hitting a guy in the back your 99% likely to get the kill.

Now this is why your point is totally shot, if you prefer to play the Halo way, you can. Hardcore mode is all traditional gun pickups, and default weapons, no ranked items at all, so you can play that way, but what does it say when these game modes by far have way less people playing them? It says games like Halo would be better off getting with the times and introducing a system similiar to cod4.

Because they'd like to have fun with them too.

CoD4 is a more even playing field because the player with better aim/reflexes doesn't win?

That people are enjoying their daily "Bash the novices game" more.

What I'm saying is your not a N00b for long in cod4, it didn't take me long to get good at COD4, because I was able to customize my character and pick a class I was comfortable with(yes, these classes are avaialable right at the beginning.) In Halo 3 I've played for 30 hours online, and I still struggle to get more then 3 kills in a game. That's a game where there is no reward for playing longer.

about aim/reflexes, yes you are rewarded for these in COD4, but your not ONLY rewarded for them, your also rewarded for stealth, and strategy, its more rewarding to more types of people, so your not screwed if you just good at one thing.

about the "Bash the novices game" I find that novices are not bad players in cod4, I've seen people kick but when they just start playing. I've also seen veterans play with the default guns, because they are just as good. And again, it's silly to complain, you unlock so much in just a few hours of playing, your basically saying you hate this game because you suck at it in the beginning, that's plain silly, because most people suck at every game in the begginning. the "bash the n00bs" concept wasn't invented with COD4. and more importantly I think Cod4 is forgiving to n00bs, like the aiming mechanic is way easier for a first time player then aiming in halo. Hiding is eaiser since you can go prone. And you can't hurt your teammates in normal game modes. Unlike freaking Battlefield where your bound to crash the helicopter the first 10 tries flying it and you'll lose tons of points in suicide and team murder for it.

Are you fucking serious?

You shouldn't need some sort of reward to keep playing an FPS. its not some long story driven RPG. The end of the match is the reward you should be striving for.

The point is an FPS relies solely on skill and knowledge of the game. Perks and unloackable weapons destroys that level playing field. Now its about who grinds for hours to unlock doubletap and the P90. Or fucking martyrdom.

This sort of thing appeals to people who love RPG elements in games and need to be constantly rewarded. I'd also say that it appeals to people who aren't that proficient at FPS games since it eventually gives them artificial advantages over everyone else.

Oh, and I blame COD4 for adding this sort of dumb shit to TF2.

i enjoy COD4 when im not on a poor team that gets beaten badly. There is some tactical skill involved but none as near as much as say battlefield bad company. One thin i really HATE is how some games are very smooth etc and the next few are so full of lag you cant move properly or you get kicked ou of a game... so annoying.

cod4 is the best and if u have never played online in cod4 then u cant say a damn thing this online is addicting and i have been playing online for months and i could play for several more months. i see a couple of people who say they have never played cod4 online, but yet they comment in this thread.

Be honest with nobody and lie to your self MGS4 best game EVER on ps3 :?!!!!!!!

I know exactly what you mean. I'm an extremely competitive gamer and the first basic thing that I expect coming into a shooter is balance. Looking at the mechanics employed in COD 4 it seems pretty apparent to me that infinity ward went for fun over balance. Don't get me wrong COD 4 is a blast to play for an hour or two with a bunch of friends but try to get any deeper into the game and I'm instantly turned off the the gross imbalances inherent in the game.

Also responses like colonelstubbs just make me laugh. If COD 4 was so balanced and great it would be used in MLG, the fact that its not shows theres something wrong. COD 4 is a great game targeted toward the casuals, although I cant blame infinity ward since recently thats where all the money seems to be in gaming.

I have a question for the console owners of CoD4.  I am thinking about buying this for the PS3.  Can you turn up the sensitivity very high?  I played Halo 3 and the turning speed was just too slow for me, so can you set the sensitivity any higher than that?

OT:  The number level doesn't really say much about the actual skill a person had (at least on the pc version.  It only shows how much time a person is willing to dedicate to the game.  I have seen many games where a few low level (15 or below) players easily dominate against the high level players.  I know I just make a new profile once I get to level 55 and start over with almost nothing, so one can pretty safely assume that many players do the same.

Martyrdom is easy to avoid; just keep you distance from other players, and you can hear the grenade which gives you more than enough time to get far away.  Plus few players seem to use it on the pc version.

I can mostly agree with the compaints with the helicopter; it does seem to always know where you are and just waits for you to mess up and poke your head out for just a second.  However, If you know that an enemy helicopter is close to you, find cover and wait for it to leave.

As far as air strikes; Unless you have teamkill off, the air strikes will kill anyone they hit (including teammates), so I really don't know why you are saying that the enemy air strikes only hit you.

You turned the Halo sensitivity all the wasy up and it was STILL too slow?  You must have the best eye focus ever.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

You know I was going to go into a tirade of defenses, but the bottom line is you people who don't like this rpg element, have hardcore mode. Again Inifinity Ward knew some people may not like it, so they made a mode that is just like Halo, you all start with the same exact assulat rifle with no perks at all, no extras, and you can pick up guns all over the map. So complaining about the rpg element when you have hardcore, is like me complaining about how unfair headquarters gameplay mode when I can just play team deathmatch instead.
again the non-rpg gamemode is in there for you people who don't like rewarding game experience, and are so worrried about unfair gameplay. just play that mode and shut up already.

Now if only Halo had a rpg like gamemode to statisfy the rest of us. No wonder halo isn't selling as well as cod.

I dislike everything about CoD4.

The most overrated game of last year IMO. I didn't see any "innovations", and the game is horribly generic. The multiplayer is OK, the single player is terirble...

The only reason Halo 3 didn't outsell COD 4 is because it's only one platform.  Don't be silly.  Even just on 360, Halo's sold almost 2 million more than COD.

And saying "go play hardcore" is pointless.  There's like 10 people in those lobbies.  That's not the game; it's an extra.  It's like saying "Only play SWAT,and then you'll like Halo."  SWAT=/= Halo, just as Hardcore =/= COD 4

It is ok for people not like a game you like.  Really.  You'll pull through.
