What I'm saying is your not a N00b for long in cod4, it didn't take me long to get good at COD4, because I was able to customize my character and pick a class I was comfortable with(yes, these classes are avaialable right at the beginning.) In Halo 3 I've played for 30 hours online, and I still struggle to get more then 3 kills in a game. That's a game where there is no reward for playing longer. about aim/reflexes, yes you are rewarded for these in COD4, but your not ONLY rewarded for them, your also rewarded for stealth, and strategy, its more rewarding to more types of people, so your not screwed if you just good at one thing. about the "Bash the novices game" I find that novices are not bad players in cod4, I've seen people kick but when they just start playing. I've also seen veterans play with the default guns, because they are just as good. And again, it's silly to complain, you unlock so much in just a few hours of playing, your basically saying you hate this game because you suck at it in the beginning, that's plain silly, because most people suck at every game in the begginning. the "bash the n00bs" concept wasn't invented with COD4. and more importantly I think Cod4 is forgiving to n00bs, like the aiming mechanic is way easier for a first time player then aiming in halo. Hiding is eaiser since you can go prone. And you can't hurt your teammates in normal game modes. Unlike freaking Battlefield where your bound to crash the helicopter the first 10 tries flying it and you'll lose tons of points in suicide and team murder for it.

Are you fucking serious?
You shouldn't need some sort of reward to keep playing an FPS. its not some long story driven RPG. The end of the match is the reward you should be striving for.
The point is an FPS relies solely on skill and knowledge of the game. Perks and unloackable weapons destroys that level playing field. Now its about who grinds for hours to unlock doubletap and the P90. Or fucking martyrdom.
This sort of thing appeals to people who love RPG elements in games and need to be constantly rewarded. I'd also say that it appeals to people who aren't that proficient at FPS games since it eventually gives them artificial advantages over everyone else.
Oh, and I blame COD4 for adding this sort of dumb shit to TF2.
