I understand. That game is pretty intense. I can pull my weight though. I still have a positive K/D ratio at lvl 40.

There are children on this forum!

Here is a more appropriate title:

"Being a COD4 n00b tosses salad hard."

That was worth a high five.

i'm a level 50, and i know what you mean, after you get used to it you will find the game the best mutli-player out now.
i know people camp out, meaning hiding out the whole time or most of the time, i can shoot people from point blank in the head and they would turn around and kill me, but now i win free for all, all the time something like 25 kills 8deaths

used to get like 5 kills and 25 deaths... lol
it took me a while to get used to it, so my k/d rate is still at like 1.12
now, i usually play sabotage, and i get like 60 kills and 10 deaths
u will get used to it as time passes, hopefully... lol have fun with cod4

Don't worry, you get better quickly, but it may be harder these days with less and less people playing (thus making the group that does "vets" of the game) but that shouldn't be a big issue just yet.

My advice for beginners, stay put, don't go running around or else you'll get hammered because 1) people stay in a position and you cross their path and you are killed due to them having the advantage of surprise or 2) you get killed by a much better player doing the same thing you were (running and gunning).
That's not me telling you to camp, but every time you respawn sit in a nice cosy position, wait for someone to pass by, take them out and move on and repeat. At least this way you'll learn about all the little hiding places people take up and your kill/death won't look as bad.

Also, play ground war, it's the easiest place for newbie's to earn points because in the domination matches you don't have to be good at kill people, just capture the flags. Same goes for Headquarters, but there's less people and you're all going for the same single target (so you'll get killed more oftenly).

I'd say a 1:1 kill/death average is a good starting target for newbies.

The game is very luck based, plus there is tons of lag all over the place, shoot some guy with the any gun 20+ times then watch him knife kill you from across the room. The best option to get kills is to stand back around the middle of your team and pick people off with the red dot M16, with stopping power and deep impact. The MP5 is really good aswell for smaller maps.

My tips for starting on CoD4: Start on small servers with only a few people. Noob out with the M16+Grenade launcher, that helped me a lot when I started. Eventually when you get to the better rifles (G36 mainly), get a red scope.

And hang back on levels like wet works and the ship level where you know the chokepoints will be nade-spammed incesively...
