Forums - Sony - KillZone 2 is mightily impressive - gaming's most impressive showcase

ahh...for video and audio yes I will agree that PC has the potential to be heads and shoulders above PS3, but then you went with PS3's best.....which makes me assume you have some stipulation as to how a 360 or Wii game takes the cake.

so what game outside of consoles makes this so hard to believe Happy. I'm curious to why you went with "console gaming" as your first adjustment to their statement.

So far, Crysis is really impressive and by the time Killzone 2 launches the PC should have released something noticeably better ...

Ok Happy.

Any "console" game come anywhere close?

What is your take on KZ2 thus far?

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

this all sounds like its going to be visually impressive.

But does anyone play call of duty 4 or halo 3 cause of looks and amazing particle effects?

If they get the gameplay or mulitplayer wrong...none of it matters.

Yes but whats the gameplay like?

"Killzone 2's effective new cover system doesn't just benefit you and your Interplanetary Strategic Alliance (ISA) pals, though. Helghast troops now routinely make snap tactical decisions on the battlefield, leaping behind a safer cover point if you start to pepper their current hiding place with gunfire. The original Killzone wasn't exactly renowned for its clever enemy A.I., and the guys at Guerrilla hope to correct that here by giving its foes the ability to intelligently navigate maps by climbing over obstacles and a desire to relentlessly pursue you should you attempt to run like a coward.

The addition of vehicles should also have a profound effect on the game's pacing, but our limited hands-on time felt a tad...inconclusive. We squared off in the climactic tank-on-tank melee shown in these screens, but the slow-moving controls and narrow battlefield made for a frustrating experience. Let's hope that Liberation's hovercraft and jetpack reappear here, possibly with Sixaxis motion control. So far, the only gestural implementation we spied was in a brief wheel-turning puzzle. Guerilla Managing Director Hermen Hulst promises "a lot more Sixaxis content where that came from." "

From the same source, sounds like the AI has improved quite a lot but vehicle combat is currently pretty rubbish.

killzone's primary hype was on the graphics and how much the cell could achieve thats why they put so much focus on it. You're right about the gameplay though.

I wasn't implying that the XBox 360 or Wii had anything that was similar to Killzone 2, but saying that it is the "PS3's most impressive showcase" is a far more diplomatic statement which prevents arguments ...

Games like Gears of War 2 are also very impressive and (hypothetically speaking) if Gears of War 2 was rendered at 720p and maintained a steady 30fps while Killzone 2 was only rendered at 640p and struggled to maintain a steady 25fps there are people who could (and would) argue that Gears of War 2 was a better showcase.

This made me lol XD

Anyhow.. sounds great.. but again.. :p why wouldn't it. Just hope they fix those vehicle combat scenarios.

Check out my game about moles ^

@ Happy

ahh....yes I would definitely agree that "best PS3 gaming showcase" would be a far more diplomatic approach and it much more likely to be true, but I just think that we shouldn't totally write off the statement until we have some time with the game ourselves.
