Forums - Nintendo - Winning Eleven 2009 confirmed for Wii

Well, that's too bad, if I remember correctly in the Intro of the game some girls are playing too, the Wii version was modified to make it more "friendly" to new gamers, but in the end didn't reach the new gamer..... maybe Malstrom was right about the tutorial stuff.

Anyway, I don't think the game is too difficult for newbies, at least the basics are easy to learn.

I'm curious to know if, maybe your parents or friends who had never played this kind of games, were able to play it or had trouble with it.

I don't have a clue if my parents would be able to play it, but I think PES was always for football fans who prefer the simulation aspect in a football game over the action aspect - or to use a term which is popular these days: it's a "hardcore game". I think the PES Wii version didn't change that (quite the contrary).

I dont agree with you, PES or winning eleven must be one of the most casuals games, In my country everyone who owns a PS2 even if they are not gamers must have this game, everyone with a consle must have it. I have it on ps2 and me and my friends play it multiplayer when we get toghether, they dont have ps2 but they learned the controls easily. I have to say that there is a very big difference between someone who watches football and plays this game and a total newb.

I played PES wii on my friends houser and I got aq bit of difficulty addapting to the controls, but then it was really easy, but what really sucks is that its just a 2 player game and the game development is a bit boring, looking lñike normal european football instead like the other versions which you can play more south american like.

So there's a law in your country which urges all PS2 owners (even those who don't play games) to possess a copy of PES?

And PES is one of the most casual games? Okay, I'll give it a try then and play it with my father. But first he has to go through some more Brain Training sessions (which will take some time, as he still doesn't know how and when to put the stylus on the blinking "more" button in the Brain Training tutorial screens).

If you have the Wii version try playing it too. Would be interesting to know which one your father liked more, PS2 or Wii.

About this casual stuff, I don't think PES or any other game must be labeled as casual or hardcore. It all depends the way we play it. You can play "casually" Gears of War, or "hardcordely" Wii Sports.

I have only the Wii version, never owned a PS2.

My father couldn't handle PES on Wiii, PS2 or any other system. He can't handle a DS or a DVD player and I'm not even sure if he'd know how to do his laundries as this is magically done by some diligent elf since a few decades. But he can drive a car. Better than nothing.

Please, don't start this tiring casual vs. hardcore terminology discussion again. You think I miss your point (which I don't), but in fact I think my point was missed: IMO PES will always be a series that is appreciated, bought and played by die-hard football and/or videogame fans who take their time to "work" themselves into the complex controls (yes they are complex - even on Wii), discover and admire the deep gameplay more and more, and then play this game for a loooong time. I doubt there are many people on this planet who step in, grab the controller, play the game for the first time and - whoops - fall in love with it within 2 minutes. This is not Wii Sports.

I did the test and showed PES Wii to sister, brother, sister-in-law, female friend and (football-hating) male friends - not at the same time of course. All of them said something like "yeah, nice" but none of them were really interested in playing PES longer than 15 minutes, not even my nephew (who plays alot of games from different genres on PS2/Wii/DS/PC). They all touched PES once and never looked back. But all of them wanted to play Wii Sports, all of them understood the Tennis & Bowling controls within a second, and all of them played it for hours and hours.

Pro Evo 2008 is fun to play. but it looked like a first gen PS2 game. They graphics could be better, even Mario Strikers Charged looked better.
