Who cares if its shipped. Its still sold 1 million. Not a bad number for a game that has a horrible opening and demanding system requirements. Even if it hasn't sold that much yet it will.

1 million?? comparing to games on Console?? you are looking at 10 million that GTAIV will likely to pull in in the same period of time.

And you ask yourself, how well will Crysis sell on a console? Is the high requirement holding the game back that much? let's not kid ourself, UTIII sold as much as Crysis and it's not nearly as beautiful a game.

how many peope pirated the game? at least 3 million so.. ya... lol

Crysis wouldn't have sold 10 million on any platform. Its selling better then farcry did, which is relevant. UT3 on the ps3 sold LESS then it did on the PC. Crysis would have sold less aswell.

Crysis could potentiall sell more than 6-7 million on PS360. And that's way more than it will ever sell on PC.

But that's not the point, the point is, it's not a bargin, a bargin would be if Spore is 30 bucks.

SSJ... the piracy issue can be said about GTAIV on 360, and for large extend, the Wii. we all know people do it. :)

Im not saying Crysis was a great game or anything. Im just saying that since plenty of people have computers fast enough to play crysis (which is supported by the fact it sold over a million copies) the assertion that no-one can play it is simply incorrect and if you don't have a the 500 doller pc that can play it its your problem. And no it wouldn't have sold that much on ps3 and th3 360. This isn't halo. Its a new IP. It sold very well considering everthing it had going against it (slow opening, high system requirements, small sales in America, new IP).

$30 for a game that over a million people have computers fast enough to run is a bargain.

A full game for $30 that can run on a PC that costs less than $500? I'd say that's a pretty good bargain. How often a PC gamer has to upgrade their computer afterwards really has no relevance to how good of a deal this is when you buy all the things you need straight up; if it runs fine on the rig you got, then that's all there is to it.

Again, I am willing to send anybody here a check of 500 bucks, if they can put together a PC that can play Crysis on it.

This is not a joke, I am sick of people saying it's possible and yet I can't seem to find those "deals" to save my life.

My last gaming machine played games for 5 years. I only bought new HDD's and RAM.

It certainly took awhile to reach respectable sales in part because in order to play the game at settings high enough to look impressive, most people who hadn't bought a $600 8800GTX in the previous year would have to buy a new card, whether it was a mid-range 8800GT, or a second card if they opted to go SLI.

For a lot of people who hadn't very recently upgraded or bought new computers, in order to play Crysis at respectable settings essentially meant spending the price of a console to do the upgrade.

And while there are enough people who enjoy the game even at lower settings if that's all their set up can manage, the real reason why most people are buying it is because of the technical aspects rather than because it provided innovations in FPS game play, game mechanics and design aspects never seen before.

But because the price to performance premium has dropped considerably since Crysis was released, it is now seeing much better sales.

An 8800GT only costs about $150-170. A 9600GT well under $150. A 4850 goes for about $200. And the price of all of Nvidia's high end cards, including the brand new the 260 and 280 have been dropped substantially due to the higher performance to price of ATI's 4850 and 4870 relative to Nvidia.

It is still a pain to be thinking of upgrades within a year though, particularly if it's mainly for one game like Crysis that was essentially designed for PCs specced well beyond what was then considered a mid/high end rig.

And how many FPS multiplatforms have sold better on PS3/360 than PC?  Off the top of my head I can only think 3: RSV1, RSV2 and Lost Planet. Bioshock probably has more copies shipped on 360 than PC, but the PC version is still selling and there's still the PC's Digital Distribution, where Bioshock is still going well.

It's not fair to compare Crysis with GTA IV. Crysis never was a game of that popularity, nor there probably were even that many machines capable of running it at High, on the release.

Dollars right? Not pounds? What bank is it?

There was a $500 budget gamer build on Tom's Hardware (April 2008), but in was by no means a PC that plays Crysis on High settings.

It also didn't include networking capabilities, any input devices (mouse/keyboard), or an OS. The video card was only a 384MB 8800GS, but for about the same price today, you could pick up a 9600GT.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/cpu-graphic-game,1810.html

Realistically speaking, $700 would be a more comfortable budget that would actually provide a complete working PC without cannibalizing components or an OS from an older one.

Knocking a $100 of the build due to "re-using" a copy of an OS is not a legal solution assuming you're planning on running more than one PC on the same license, which many do anyway.
