Is there going to be a thread about this every week? I mean seriously, at least wait until some reviews or new footage comes out.
We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke
It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...." Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson
Well you can't really say that Fable 1 and many other games are hyped to crazy. The only real games that you can put that to are Halo and GTA. At least that i notice. I have lets say 20 friends who all game pretty good and own consoles and what not. Out of those 20, there is probably only 4 of them counting me that check online for games and read about htem
When the game comes out, one of my friends out of the 16 that don't read up on them while coming goes and looks at review before buying. So taht means there is 15 of my friends that don't give a shit about anythign on the internet. Hype, previews, reviews anything. They will go out and buy the new EA sports game. Or new rainbow six game. Or go out and buy the Halo game they saw commercial or like the previous halo. Or 1 saw a sweet commercial for Lost Oddysey. he wanted to get it, but never got aroudn to it.
I mean even take me for an example. I am 23 and it wasn't until about 2 years ago max that I ever looked online and stuff about new games announced or coming out. Before I would just check games whenever in best buy and get what sounded cool/looked cool. Or that I have heard of and a sequal was out that i liked.
And that is of my male friends that will play games for a few hours a day if not busy. And there are plenty of poeple I know that have a system and don't ever use it, or get games only at holiday's birthdays. Wether a game is hyped, over-hyped or whatever it does not matter. All that will really matter is wether the tv commercials will influence a person to want it or not. internet hype is meaningless. LIke 4 of my friends favorite game was Fable 1. They had never even heard of the game until my roomate bought it and they saw us playing it. They are pumped for Fable 2. They would not have knwn of a fable 2 if i didn't tell them, and they have no idea on when it comes out, or anything about it.
It was hyped at E3 2005 the same time they first announced the first Gears of War. Since then, Gears of War has sold over 5 million copies and the second one will be released before Killzone 2 arrives. All said, it doesnt matter how good it is at this point, if it doesnt sell over 10 million copies, it was just another long over due FPS game.
I don't see a lot of official hype regarding KZ2. Sony released the (cgi) target render in 2005, released actual gameplay footage that realized the target render in 2007, and they demoed the second level in 2008. Most of the hype is from threads like these. Let's not make KZ2 something it is not. It will not be a revolutionary FPS in terms of gameplay mechanics. It will be one of the best looking FPS released to date and it will demonstrate what is possible on the PS3. If it is a solid shooter with great graphics, I will be one of the millions of people that buy it.
Thanks for the input, Jeff.
I've only known KZ2 to be hyped on the graphics. I don't think the actual gameplay has been hyped that much. I watched the trailer on PSN and the graphics and animations seem to show promise. After Lair and HS, I'm not holding my breath though.

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.
It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

this is what i was saying sony hasn't really done much of hyping it other than for the graphics which they have achieved (IMO)
wow just seen some pics i so need to get a ps3 for this
HAHA, Killzone 2 over-hyped, and this is coming from a Halo 3 owner. Priceless.
