starcraft really does not like this thread at all
First, I guessed you had not read the full article, but now I think you read it and posted it just for trolling. It's clear this are 1 year old news and the writer doesn't even know what he's talking about. You can post news either positive or negative, but stop posting bullshit.
Yeah, more FUD from Sony fanboys but we are just bunch of whining and crybaby. If this is what moderators here want the site to turn into then by all mean keep it up.
So are they kinda like National Inquirer here in the States I guess.
This isn't all bullshit though is it. Old news it is, some of the figures are also off but utter bullshit this is not. The real point for me is a national paper writing an (admittedly poor) article about RRoD even if it is a red top rag.
assumption is the mother of all f**k ups
| starcraft said: For gods sake Spartan at least read before you troll. The article was a bunch of tosh. Its a very, VERY late reporting of Microsoft's $1 billion losses and the author (who clearly knows dick about video games) has assumed the Elite is the only model the money applies too. Pounds equal approximately two dollars buddy. To complete the authors idiocy, he thinks the $1 billion includes cash used to recall cords for the ORIGINAL Xbox. Man that guy is a fool. Please don't post things like this again Spartan. We had a whole thread talking about excess Microsoft FUD two days ago. |
I agree on article points (as its very likely referring to the $ 1Billion) but to call this FUD or old news is wrong. This was a recent story and while incorrect it is certainly valid news for these forums as this kind of stuff is what will continue to harm 360 sales.
Right or wrong a more casual gamer reading that paper (and if they read this paper they will probably just accept the story) can be assumed to be more likely to consider a Wii or PS3 vs an unreliable 360.
Most people's market perceptions are wrong, which is why this is valid new IMO as it clearly shows that 360 is still garnering (whether deserved or underserved) the wrong type of coverage.
I sympathise that this kind of incorrect reporting is annoying if you are a fan of 360 (or even just in general) but it shouldn't be ignored nor should anyone relfecting on its possible impact be held to be acting poorly.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

How was Spartan trolling? All he did was post the news.
For all those claiming this is old news that's immaterial. It will be read by perspective consumers today. It is in a (crap I might add) national newspaper today.
It can't be ignored as news nor seen as trolling as its in a national newspaper not some stupid blog.
The real news here is that RROD continues to haunt MS and that so long as these kinds of stories appear in mainstream channels more damage is done to 360s reputation.
Just like Fox poor reporting on Mass Effect this will have an impact as we're talking mainstream reporting here (even though the paper is trash and the story poorly written/researched).
Where this probably does most harm is casual buyers who don't go near any specific content be it review magazines, gaming sites, etc. but go on general perceptions picked up from sources just like this.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
If I hear "Microsoft FUD" one more time, I'm gonna flip the freak out.
Such whiners.
The story is complete and utter BS and just to add fuel to the fire it is exactly 1 year to the date the 1 billion RRoD story broke. Very convenient indeed. However does anyone know how many Eites that MS would have to allotted their just to reach this figure. I'll let you guess, but it isn't anywhere near the costs of this kind of figure. NOWHERE NEAR. What is more Robbie Bach already stated that the division will not be in the red for the fiscal year. If MS was taking this charge in June or good chunk by that time then this would be impossible because it would fall in their fiscal year and make it virtually impossible to be in the black for the fiscal year.
Tabloids are so good lol. Source and story are nothing but trash.
p.s. Anyone cheering this BS on is nothing more but a kool-aid drinker.
Both The Daily Mirror and The Daily Telegraph have decided to 'break the news' that Microsoft is 'facing' a £550 million repair bill for Xbox 360s. Well, the Mirror actually writes, "Computer giants (sic) Microsoft are (sic) facing a £500million repair bill after their Xbox Elite consoles were hit by the notorious "red ring of death".
The Telegraph, however, makes no mention of 'Elite', stating instead that the problem is with "Xbox 360s". It then, rather confusingly states, "The red ring of death is not the first to affect the hugely-popular consoles and their programmes."
We looked and looked and thought, "Hold on this is very reminiscent of a story we ran on July 6th 2007 - that story was called 'Microsoft 's $1.15 BILLION Red Face Of Debt'.
On the off-chance that the researchers at the Mirror and Telegraph have something new - and didn't just see a wire story dated July 6th (but missed 2007) we've contacted Microsoft for new info.

Haha the media is already tearing the story a good one. Heh, yea the average consumer is going to see right through this story pretty quickly if this keeps up.
