Forums - Nintendo - Oust worked at 8% first try!

That "General II" Clan Trial was hard. You are not allow to do >20 damage for 3 rounds while the monster got nearly 400 HP.

So, I thought about using counter since it would be a work-around for doing over 20 damage and not break the law since I didn't initiate the attack.

After the monster attacked my guy and got countered for some damage, my hunter could Oust for 8%. Everything else just aren't an option. Absolutely nothing else I could use, so I let it loose and the monster... left the battle field.

I thought I broke the game as there was a few second pause and then it gave me the usual "Complete". That was the best "LOL" moment that the FFTA2 game doesn't work against me. I missed a lot of times at 99% tohit.

Thats actually a feat as Tactics advance is notorious for 99% chance to hit and you still actually miss.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

Wow that's lucky. I could never get Oust to hit.

In Tactics I think accuracy and agility are independant so a sword can hit 99% but when an enemeis agility is high the actual hit % comes out lower. I assume it works the same way with low agility enemies.

The tohit percent is definitely wacked. There must be something left out of the equation.
One thing I noticed is that, certain jobs hits better than certain other jobs.

Don't try to shoot an arrow when your team in front is on higher elevation. It actually hit what's in front :)

Stuck at the Sand monster quest?

*Spoilers*

Here's what I did to kill it quite easily.

Don't bother killing the little ants, as new ones will come in to replace them if you kill them.

So, bring at least 1 char that can do Blind, most likely an Archer.

Blind those ants and just ignore them, they will miss you half the time.

Send in your hard hitters to front line, lined up like a cross with the healer in the back.

healer
fighter fighter(cure target) fighter
boss

It's best if your fighters have counter for reaction skill.

Your healer will be healing every turn. By the end, you'll most likely have 2 dead chars that aren't in the healing area.

Oh, and don't worry about healing the boss, he's too low to be hit by your cure.

Have you been taking advantage of those clan trials?
If you haven't, you should be.
If you aren't sure, you should learn about it.

Quick tips,
First set of trials, you gain new bonus for every odd level.
For example, Negotiation I, choose level 1, 3, 5. The second and forth one doesn't give you new bonus.
It is similar for the other ones, but I have yet to test it.

The second set to trials, Negotiation II, each level should give you a new bonus but does not necessarily give the same kind, ie. going from Power 3 to Power 4.

When you get the dual type, ie. Negotiation-Adapt. Try to clear them, too. One of them gives you more AP, I think max of AP 3. I don't remember which one is which though :)

Negotiation I level 5 is probably the hardest one to clear, those annoying bunnies charming you and wasting your turns.

Here's some tips to clear them early on, highly recommend clearing them first thing when your chars are still level 4 - 6.

Their level seems to correspond your level, so, it's actually easier to beat them when they are lower level.

You should have at least 1 black mage master the fire/ice/thunder. Set the black magic to secondary skill so you can switch the rod to another char for another set of black magic. You're going to need the Fire spell.

Put equips on that gives you highest possible resist for those black magic chars.

So, you should have 2 black mages, more probably make things easier.

The law for this trial is that you cannot use range attack.
As long as you hit stuff next to you, you can even use a bow, it still counts as close range.

Knockback is counted as long range, which you probably already learned the hard way :)

Use your black mages and run up next to the bunnies, preferably 2 or more. You'll most likely get between 2 of them at most as they spread out. Then cast Fire on yourself. You'll hit yourself but with resist, it should be doing single digit damage to you while doing over 30 dmg to the bunnies since they are weak against it.

Even if you don't have high resist, kamikaze them still will net you a win.

Try to kill them off instead of weakening them. If you can pick to kill 1 or damage 2, choose killing off 1. Unless both your chars take turn before them bunnies.

Spent a long session on this last night, and really enjoying it. Wish it ran faster, but hey.

But I'm quite annoyed by some of the "laws" for some of the Clan Trials - for the first negotiation trial: "Don't target anything more 2 or more squares away".

...ok... but when I target something next to me, hit it, and it MOVES back - and I get failed - I get annoyed (I actually consider this a BUG, unless I'm missing something :P).

Plus some of them are purely luck based, which sucks butt as well (i.e. "Don't miss") - even on a 98% rate, I still missed and lost the law bonus. At least the trial didn't fail...

Yeah, I think the knockback counting as long range attack is a bug. As it also count as a close range attack. How can an attack be both close and long range? LOL.

As for the no missing law. That's 1 of the LAW purely based on luck. I missed with 99% :)

But I can't really complain when I hit with 8% Oust, can I?

And yes, the game feels... slow. There should be a "quick" animation version.

Forgot to add.

If Negotiation I rank 3 gives you Luck +2 and rank 5 gives you Luck +3.
Assuming you have Luck +1.
You went ahead and did rank 5, your reward will be Luck +2 instead of Luck +3. So, you basically would have to do rank 5 again to get Luck +3.
