I didn't realize Fire Emblem was so close to release. It will probably be a fall title in the west then? Looking amazing for Wii in Japan... More overall titles in the next couple months, not including VC games, plus the lower price tag, and with the Wii branded games still moving systems... Basically its going to be impossible for the other systems to make up any ground in this time period...

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

I am not so sure about that. We will see what the release of Gundam Musou will do in japan.

That game looks wacked out. Who would have imagined taking Dynasty Warriors, and re-skinning it with mechs :) It actually different (from the other hundred Gundam & Dynasty Warriors games) released in the last couple of years, so it should garner some interest/sales. VF5 comes out this weekend - its going to have to sell 500,000 copies (say over a month) for things to pickup for the PS3. The other "big" titles have been selling around 100-150k.

LOL !! There is no way in anyone's dreams that VF5 will do 500,000!! It will come out next week, do 65,000 and drop away - not even reaching 200,000 units - mark my words !

The Virtua Fighter series is nowhere near as popular as it once was Basically, QFT!!!

"Why do they call it the xbox 360? Because when you see it, you'll turn 360 degrees and walk away"

Well, VF4 sold almost 400,000 units in week 1 in Japan - it was one of the games that kick-started the PS2. Mind you, the same applied to the last RidgeRacer - I think the sales of the current one aren't far from "terrible". Apart from VF4, there isn't anything coming out for a month - which implies another month of 20k sales / week (if VF doesn't pick things up).

Hmmm if VF5 is really bombing in Japan right now like reported, I wonder if Sega will release the 360 version in Japan after all. It makes no sense not to, even if the PS3 version sells well. The game is already in Japanese. Its pretty much free money for them to release it.

"Virtua Fighter 5: Approx.. 30.000 sold units on the first day 09.02.07 - Sega could sell approximately 30,000 units in Japan from Virtua Fighter 5 on the first day of the distribution. That comes out from collections of Enterbrain, the flogging play came today on the market." http://www.gamefront.de/ To put in comparison Blue Dragon sold 83,750 and Zelda sold 147,750 in a week. I put this in another thread but thought it was relevant here as well.

Did I miss something? Why, exactly? As for VF5 Vs Blue Dragon, I'm willing to bet cash that VF5 outsells Blue Dragon in Japan.
