Firefox 3 should be using less memory overall, especially when it's running for a long time. Firefox 2 used to suck up memory when running for more than 30 minutes.

Also try the other browsers, at least for a while, and then use the one you like most. We should be grateful there's a handful of free alternative browsers and we're not locked in IE. Yes, but as I said, it gets worse with the less ram you have, the more tabs and extensions you use, ect. It is better, but it's still a slight problem.
