I just graduate back and forth from DS to Wii and back over and over.
And the sales charts make this look like the most reliable theory.
It's an epidemic really.

No it isn´t PC gaming will never be as good as console gaming and i am not talking about graphics. The only genre that make PC better are strategy games and that can change with the wii mote. |
-FPS, RTS, and RPG all are better on PC because of the mouse and the amount of inputs for hotkeys. The Wiimote has even less inputs than a standard controller, and thus will never be comparable to PC in RTS and RPG genres, since they require heavy use of hotkeys.
-Online is lightyears ahead of consoles on PCs.
-You can plug in a gamepad for anything that plays better with them.
-graphics are better, framerate is better, games are cheaper
-you can buy all your games online and download them straight to your computer without having to ever leave the house
-you can play games without changing CDs

Hey Naz, Why are PCs better for RPGs? I just held down the A button for the first couple Final Fantasy games. You just need a D-Pad or IR pointer or mouse, and some menus and 1 or 2 buttons.
The way I see it, PC has better online, users modding everything, better graphics, games made by Blizzard and Valve, and they have inherently better controls for FPS and RTS games.
Consoles are sexxier, easier for dummies to hook up fast right out of the box, they have games made by Nintendo, Namco, Capcom, and Konami, and they have inherently better (standard) controls for fighters.
I'm kinda out of the RPG loop, so I don't see why they'd need so many hotkeys these days.
@naznatips
Thats all based on opinion, PC fanboys state that mouse+keyboard>>console controls, I say otherwise.
Thats just how it works.

An RPG with any real variety in your skills needs a lot of buttons and the user of a mouse. Let me show you...

Does that look like it's playable on consoles? Of course not. Any RPG with real gameplay depth needs hotkeys to be playable. I was thinking Western and MMORPG though, as JRPGs are usually very simplistic in combat. That said, there has been a new stream of super-casual WRPGs too like Oblivion that are toned down for the limited controls on consoles.
I don't see how you can possibly argue consoles have better controls for anything. You always have the option to use a Gamepad. Even if you don't like mouse and keybaord you can use a gameplad. The difference is while on PC you can use the more accurate and customizable mouse and keyboard (and no, that isn't opinion... accuracy and amount of buttons are a matter of meassureable fact), but on consoles you have nothing but the extremely limited gamepads.
I agree they are easier to use, and have some games PCs don't, just as PCs have some games consoles don't.

leo-j, I'm in the console club for the most part, but I'm not crazy enough to argue that a controller with 2 sticks and 8-10 buttons is more efficient than a mouse with 3 buttons (5 if you count rolling up and down as separate inputs) and a keyboard with a million buttons all fully customized however you like.
If you're arguing pure efficiency, keyboard/mouse is the way to go.
However, some games need that and some don't.
Oh snap, yeah I forgot about that whole "not all RPGs are JRPGs" thing for a second there. I'm dumb.
Anyone have any other interviews or articles of developers or PR people calling the Wii a fad? I'd like to make a personal collection.

The only games that are better on PC of theese are the ones that heavily rely on hotbuttons but if you can play with out then the upcoming motes for various consoles will give the pc a run for their money, also today you can connect M & K to consoles and use theese hotbuttons so even this small favorable thing for pc´s is not valid anymore. -Online is lightyears ahead of consoles on PCs. Only relevant if you are going to play online with others and I was never talking about that and Online for games is an addon to the gameplay and not a necesity to play a game -You can plug in a gamepad for anything that plays better with them. Doesn´t mutter how many gamepads or whatever you plug in because it will always be a better experience on consoles when you have to use gamepad. -graphics are better, framerate is better, games are cheaper allready said in my post I wasn´t talking about graphics which improves games but not that much that it makes the same game on consoles a lesser experience if it is made properly. -you can buy all your games online and download them straight to your computer without having to ever leave the house Couldn´t care less and doesn´t improve game experience. This will be available for consoles with time. -you can play games without changing CDs Does not enhance gameplay and you never or almost never vhange cd´s on consoles |
and still none of those things can make the gaming experience half as good as gaming on consoles.
I said in my post that I was not including graphics in to that statement.
As a gaming experience consoles beat PC and has done so since mid 90´s, doesn´t mutter that you have better framerate becasuse it is not that much better that it makes the console experience lesser and the same goes for online.
One thing the PC can never achieve which makes the experience better on consoles is the actuall experience to play on a console wich is made for your gaming only and nothing else.
