Games are catching up quick. It looks like the old formats have a fight on their hands against the new entertainment mediums.

The link says significant lead, I say significantly closing gap!

So at this rate the games market might overtake the DVD market soon?!?!

I don't know, try comparing videogame software sales to DVD sales, and you might find a different story. Hell, it's not really fair competition unless you include DVD or Blu-ray players, remotes, etc.

Its like 8gb for the game software market vs 16gb for the DVD movie market. Thats a comparison thats getting pretty close IMO.

Hmmm so how was it last year? Would be easier to compare :).

Except sales software sales to get close to $12bn in the US in 2008. A figure which is incredable -- as it would mean game software > box office and approaching DVD sales...
Ofcourse Box office + DVD sales does have an advantage but that advantage IS dissapearing ...

Well, games cost much more than DVDs, so you would expect the gap to not be that big.
