Better gameplay? Not if you prefer 2D fighting.

Both, but if I had to pick one it would be Soul Caliber 4.

Both are must buys, obviously. I am of the opinion that SC will have deeper more satisfying gameplay though. Between dodging in any direction (as a 3d fighter), countering, the addition of "breakable" armor, and a combo system that is equally as robust as Street Fighter's, I personally think its complexities really make it more of a "Next-gen" fighter than SF is.
Admittedly, I've not played a Street Fighter since SF2 Turbo (which i still play on my wii), has the gameplay evolved that much since then? Or is it still mostly about timing blocks and mastering combos?
The stages also make a difference for me in SC. While they don't affect game play THAT much, the option of a ringout is there if you want it (you can always play stages without it too) and the environment can affect the strategy of how you play. SF Stages are pretty and all, but never really have an affect of how you plan your fight.

i have yet to play a 3D fighter with all of its 3d trickery and armour breaking that has deeper gameplay than SF3: Third Strike. Tekken is tap tap...tap tap tap....tap....tap tap. DOA is rock paper siccors, SC1 was good but it has hardly evolved since... Best 3D fighter in my opinion is VF4 and 5...and that is not nearly as balanced as SF3 (except for that bitch Chun Li)
I'd buy Street Fighter 4 before Soul Calibur 4. I loved the first Soul Calibur but each game released afterwards didn't really add anything new. Also, it's been a while since we've gotten a new Street Fighter, I'm much more excited about it personally.
Well, since I love fighting games I would buy Tekken 6, SF 4 and K of F XII at their launching, for an odd reason I don't like SC 4,I don't know, perhaps Tekken 6 stole my love for 3D fighters seeing that I'm more inclined to 2D fighters ( or to this new "2.5D").
