Chrono Trigger had a better story than chrono cross imo. I would say baldur's gate, chrono trigger or Final Fantasy Vi( I loved the setting and the characters).
Xenogears, although Disc 2 got a little weird. The Xenosaga series had a damn good story too.
Let's not forget about Final Fantasy Tactics either. Phenomenal story.

Hmmm. I really liked Mother 3's^^; even just from the little I understood. Also: Earthbound (just a personal pick), Chrono Trigger, Pheonix Wright games perhaps? I guess Rhapsody. I kinda forgot it at this point though.

Xenogears would be even better then it is if Square hadn't stopped the funding.
