Just thought I would make people aware. my own pc got infected a few weeks ago and it cost me 170 Euro to get it fixed

Plus major hassle.

No internet explorer. opened A dodgy email by mistake it took over my pc even removing my anti virus software.
This thing was really bad the guy who fixed it said it was the worst infection he had dealt with in a long time.

You should definitely get FireFox. I used to be an ardent IE supporter. Then I started using FF occasionally so I could add boxart to the games database. I never looked back. (If you do get it, get the Adblocker add-on too. No popups, no banner ads. really nice)

I have heard good things about firefox. this guy put in a differnt anti virus for me which he claims is pretty good.

will firefox let me carry on as i am without having to load everything in again.

When I say I am not very technical minded trust me I mean it lol.

actually the post was just to inform people of the threat.
I mentioned my own misfortune to highlight the hassle and cost these viruses cost.
you would be surprised at how many people know little or nothing about these viruses and if informed may just avoid getting one.

Yes, Firefox will load in your old IE bookmarks, and even set itself as the default browser if you want.  Here... use my getfirefox link. ;)

You won't regret it.  When you get that, hit Tools/Addons get AdBlock Plus and search other addins to your heart's content.

It seems the mods need help with this forum.  I have zero tolerance for trolling, platform criticism (Rule 4), and poster bad-mouthing (Rule 3.4) and you will be reported.

geez, what could a guy do that would cost 170 euros? he probably just installed his own antivirus and fixed it, either that or did a system backup, wiped the system and restored.
