Forums - Microsoft - Halo Wars ABSOLUTE WoW! New screens

Let's hope MS doesn't saddle this game with dual analog controls. Ensemble and Halo deserve better than that. I would hate to see a great RTS (which Ensemble is surely putting together) be ruined by a shit control scheme.

What do you mean by "dual analog controls", Left moves screen, right moves cursor?

The only thing I've seen about the controls so far on this game is what they called the "paint" system, where you would hold down a button and the cursor would be highlighted, and then everything you touched would become "painted", and that's how you would select units.  That was a while ago though, so I'm not sure if it's changed since then.

Skeptical.... Age of Empires 3 wasn't very good...... Ensemble needs this to be their comeback for me. (and release a demo this september)

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Obligatory dick measuring Gaming Laptop Specs: Sager NP8270-GTX: 17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED Matte LC, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3, 750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

Nice pictures!

For the ones talking about consoles controllers, please try Command & Conquer Kanes Wrath and then you can talk....

Kanes Wrath has the best control system ever, even better than PC mouse.... Honestly, try it!

Consoles are good for RTS too :)

By the end of this generation in 2011 we will have:

18.890.000 + (174 x 120.000) = 39.770.000 for XBOX360
12.610.000 + (174 x 170.000) = 42.190.000 for PS3

2nd Pic looks horrible compared to the 3rd Pic

Whats up with that? The parts that look good look awesome, but the parts that look bad look terrible. I'm gonna wait to see this one in motion before I make up my mind but it looks like certain aspects have been given a lot more detail than others.

It's still in development, so don't expect it to look perfect :).

This looks to be shaping up well. I hope they get all the things that make a great RTS great. The presentation at least looks top quality.

I will pick this up for the PC, I think. If it comes out around the time of SC2, I will just get that. If this come out ahead of SC2, I will get this one.

I mean the standard, dual analog 360 controller. Unless Ensemble somehow gets a square peg to fit into a round hole, the controls will probably be what holds this game back more than anything.

http://www.halowars.com/faq.aspxQ: Will I be able to play Halo Wars on Xbox 360 and PC? A: Halo Wars is for the Xbox 360 exclusively.

For now it will remain on the 360. The Halo name can sell 1 million copies so im sure it will do much better than that. It's not going to be a Starcraft kind of game but it will still probably be the best selling RTS on a console to date....which isn't saying much since someone on here said that it would have to sell over 1.5m.

Consoles Owned: Sega Genesis, NES, PS2 (RIP) N64, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii

HW isn't the first-ever RTS to be built for consoles.

Herzog, and its succuessor, Herzog Zwei did it almost 20 years ago - fantastically, I might add.

It can be done, and done well. It's just a matter of the developer's will to build the gameplay around the control, not the control around the gameplay.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Now this looks like a game I will play. It looks great so far.

Isn't there a peripheral that would allow me to use a mouse and keyboard on the 360?

I just watched a video for that. It does look good.

I think I might go rent that game right now.
