Forums - Gaming - do exclusives really matter?

i know that exclusives matter alot for helping a console sell well, but alot of people say x game is better then y game cause its exclusive, does it exclsuve really make it better,i dont really think it makes it better, only that a good exclusive will help a console sell

Exclusives help to destinguish between consoles. So Yeah exclusives matter.

^but still alot of people make em as there better games, which in alot of cases there not

Sony and Nintendo Exclusive do matter. Sony and Nintendo Exclusives draw people to a certain platform. Microsoft exclusives have little or no impact on hardware sales. Halo 3 had no impact and Gears of War 2 will make not much difference.

But overall success of any console or hand held is determined by third party support. The more third party support the better the quality, more money is generated and bigger fan base, growth of market.

^also first party has a big role at the success at a console, look what ninty did with wii and DS

sorry " only Good exclusives matter " lol

Hmmm, well if the Developer doesn't develope for more than one console, then they can put more time, effort and money into a game. That makes exclusives better. They've also been designed for a particular console in mind and aren't trying to cater for several others.

If that was the complete truth, the Xbox360 would have won the whole race by now.

Tease.

if the games was multiplatform this thread will not be exist.

Generally, exclusive games are usually of higher quality because they can optimize for the hardware, controls, just about everything else better. That isn't to say that multi-plats can't be amazing games or that exclusives can't be complete crap though.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S.
