It had no effect in Europe, why would it be any different in the US where the Wii has even bigger demand?

Agreed.  I don't know what people are expecting with this price drop.

Especially with the fact that this drop will not be the magnitude of the one in Europe.

Your negative attitude and lies about the X360 are really getting old.

The price drop had great effect in Europe.

Before the price drop in mid March, the X360 sold 50,000 units per week. After the drop it spiked at 80-90,000 units for seweral weeks, and the sustained sales are three months later still around 70,000 per week (in June) - that's a 40% long term increase!

About the magnitude, it was the same as the rumoured one in the US - 50 euros drop on a 349 euro price.
(although there is an added currency effect due to the weakening Dollar vs Euro which has made the X360 around 20-30 euros cheaper, but it's over a period of the last 6 months).

There are lots of people who are only interested in the Wii because it is designed in a way that makes gaming accessable to them, for these people the XBox 360 could be half the price of the Wii and it wouldn't matter; there are people who are interested in the Wii along with other systems, and a lower priced XBox 360 increases the likelyhood of them buying a Wii and an XBox 360; and there are people who favour other systems over the Wii and will probably not be impacted by a lower priced XBox 360.

The XBox 360 would see some gains in their weekly sales, but it would not impact the sales of the Wii.

he speaks the truth. MY dad really enjoys using my Wii. (in fact, he's pretty much the only one who uses it) but he would never play an Xbox 360. He might play a comparable motion sensing PS3 game if any came out, but he would never play a traditional video game. (all the buttons confuse him...) So HappySquirrel is definitely right that a 360 rice cut would have little or no impact on Wii sales.

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

I overheard a kid trading in his wii at gamestop (HUGE, HUGE MISTAKE!) because he wanted to buy an xbox 360. (a mistake if he doesn't know what's going on)

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Obligatory dick measuring Gaming Laptop Specs: Sager NP8270-GTX: 17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED Matte LC, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3, 750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

No effect, eh? I think this weeks numbers demonstrate that, if there is a permanent price cut on the 360, it'll have a pretty serious effect on both PS3 and Wii sales (mostly PS3 I'm thinking).

The Wii sold more this week than last week. I don't see how the 360 price cut is having a "pretty serious" effect on it.
