why does Apple put "i" in front of all their products?

iPod, iTunes, iPhone, iMac......why does Apple have to put "i" in front of everything? I mean, is it like tradition? or does it actually have a meaning?

there was even a movie made called "iRobot" 3 years back and the robots (NS-5's) looked like they were designed by Apple, anyways, can anyone explain this to me?

I think it is capitalizing on the "me" generation phenomenon.

In this homogenized, processed culture it's easy to sell someone a product that they feel separates them from the masses while at the same time embracing current trends. It promotes individuality and conformity in one sleek package.
