Top 10 Nintendo Soundtrack Tributes

Nintendo games feature some of the best music ever created. Whether that be from the simplicity of the first NES Mario theme, to the orchestrated pieces from The Legend of Zelda. I love it all, and it’s amazing to see so many people have remixed, preformed or just created something new based on the original Nintendo composed song. So I thought as a tribute to all those fantastic remixes and the like, a list should be compiled with what I think are the top 10 out there. The list ranges from the traditional Mario and Zelda's to the more obscure games you perhaps haven't even heard yet.. Read the list below, listen and enjoy these awesome Nintendo music tributes below.
10 - Star Fox - Wolf Remix
Certainly not the best remix, but it made me laugh. It’s basically a few sentences strung together accompanied with some techno beats and other effects. The end result is an amusing remix. May not be for all though.
9 - Mario Kart 64 - Rainbow Road Remix
The Rainbow Road music in any Mario Kart is awesome. When searching for something along the lines of Mario Kart remixed music, I stumbled across this little beauty. It still has the charm of the original, but the developer has given it a new edge. Enjoy listening.
8 - Tetris Remix
Type in Tetris Remix on Youtube and you’ll get literally hundreds of remixes of results. Although a few of them are just simply the same ones with new images, this one was my personal favourite. It retained the charm of the original but it added a rock essence to the great tune. Absolutely brilliant.
7 - Metroid Prime Series Remix
Ignore the terrible footage that accompanies it, this remix is one of the best for any Metroid game. The composer has decided not to focus on just one game, but an entire trilogy of great games. They’ve compiled all the amazing theme tunes from each of those games into one awesome track.
6 - Kirby/Snoop Dog Remix
I couldn’t resist. If this is your fist time of watching this video clip, you may be surprised to hear that the song had nothing to do with the actual Kirby music. It was all just a scary coincident. Very weird how Snoop Dog’s song goes so well with the theme tune.
5 - Phoenix Wright - Cornered Remix
Ok, it’s strictly not a Nintendo game, but Nintendo did publish the series in Europe, so I guess that makes it all ok. Anyway, Magical Trick Society created an entire album on the Phoenix Wright series music and this was by far the best remix they did. It starts off kind of weird with some sort of subtle beginning, but it soon turns into something quite… well, magical. This is more about the rock than the techno, but even if you’re not a fan of either the series or the music genre, it’s certainly worth a listen.
4 - Super Mario World 3 - Mansion Remix
The mansion music was probably one of my favourite tracks from Super Mario World 3, and was I excited to see someone had remixed the entire tune. It starts off pretty basic, but soon turns into something truly inhuman. The creator even added in sound effects from the game and included a few other songs within the remix, see if you can spot them.

3 - Mario Paint - Various Remixes
I had no idea, up until now anyway, that Mario Paint would allow players to create their own music using a simple note function. At first, I must admit, I did in fact search for Golden Sun remixes. It was then I stumbled onto one very, very talented creator (Youtube username: LoloGuru) who had made my favourite tune from the game using Mario Paint. I then checked out the account only to find a further 36 songs. Just a note, I found there’s an absolute tonne of other Mario Paint composers out there, so I’m going to dedicate my next feature for them alone, as they’re just too awesome to be missed out.

2 - Pokemon - Various Remixes
Like Tetris, typing in Pokemon Remix into Youtube got me tonnes of results, even more than Tetris, so picking one was nigh on impossible. I listened to about 30 great remixed songs, but after each listen I noted down the name of the composer; 8 of my favourite ones were made by the same person, so I thought that instead of showing you guys one video, why not give you the link to the person’s Youtube account like I did that last. There’s just over 20 remixed songs that they created, all as great as each other. A remarkable achievement.

1 - Legend of Zelda Melody (By Bowsers Brod)
The majority of the list thus far have been midi remixes or have been a few extra beats added to the core song. This song however, was preformed live in front of an audience by an amazing band. They’ve took all the best tracks from Zelda: Ocarina of Time (just OOT) and have preformed them using guitars, pianos and drums. It’s an absolutely amazing song. Being a Zelda fan, I can tell a good remix from a bad one, and that is by far the best tribute to a Zelda game I’ve ever heard. Dare I say that is one of the best remixes I’ve ever heard. Yes, I do, and I say that with great confidence.
So there you guys have it: my top 10 list of Nintendo themed tributes. You may of agreed with all of my selections, or you may not of. But I believe that these are some of the best out there, but of course, there’s bound to be more. Did you agree with me on them all? Did you only agree on some of them? Don’t like any of them at all. Discuss it over at our forums.

Vaio - "Bury me at Milanello" R.I.P AC Milan
In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird.
Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

“If any creator has not played Mario, then they’re probably not a good creator. That’s something I can say with 100 percent confidence. Mario is, for game creators, the development bible.
