wow, I never knew how many bigots were on this site... against christianity.

Really? I haven't noticed bigotry against Christianity, but what I have noticed is that some people here are hiding behind their religion to justify their own bigotry. The major prohibition against homosexuality in the Bible is in Leviticus... There's also another passage which you might find of interest:

leviticus 11:7-8

7The pig, for even though it has divided hoofs and is cloven-footed, it does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. 8Of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch; they are unclean for you.

Your profile says that you like to play football. Aren't those usually made from pig skin? Now, if you're going to condemn gay people, you should be condemning yourself and all football players.

If you don't like gay people, that's your opinion, but don't try to hide your own hatreds behind your religion.

the internet is basically a hiding place for everybody that hates christianity.(and everything else)

..........Are you stupid? they haven't been made out of pig skin for a long time...... a Looooooooooong time.

"The ball is about 11 inches (28 cm) long and about 22 inches (56 cm) in circumference at the center. The exterior of the ball is made of leather, which is required in professional and collegiate football. Footballs used in recreation may be made of rubber or plastic materials"

I do eat ham and stuff though, but the thing about the bible, you can take it at face value sometimes... sometimes. Yes, they are nasty creatures sometimes, but if god meant for us not to eat them, why would he put them on this earth? And not all saints and prophets are right, you know.

If you want to refer to Kosher foods, you might want to check the New Testament. In Acts 10:9-16 Peter is staying at Simon the Tanner's House, and was praying on the roof. Verse 10,

"10 But he became hungry and was desiring to eat; but while they were making preparations, he fell into a trance; 11 and he saw the sky opened up, and an object like a great sheet coming down, lowered by four corners to the ground, 12 and there were in it all kinds of four-footed animals and crawling creatures of the earth and birds of the air. 13 A voice came to him, “Get up, Peter, kill and eat!” 14 But Peter said, “By no means, Lord, for I have never eaten anything unholy and unclean.” 15 Again a voice came to him a second time, “What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy.” 16 This happened three times, and immediately the object was taken up into the sky."

This means that the "unclean" animals like pigs, are now acceptable to eat. You will find that the New Testament revises much of the Old Law. This is because the Old Law had been fulfilled. Please do not skew the Bible to make it seem like it is saying something it isn't.

Someone sent me a PM about that, I didn't know that but if you eat ham, I would think the same thing applies. So, if you can't always take the Bible at face value, why are you choosing which passages you will or will not follow? (In the same book, no less) How does a person know what passages to follow and which ones to ignore?

ugh. I can't stand what people have said in this topic. People are born gay. People chose to be gay. BOTH are correct!

Leviticus is great. The word they use is "tehovah" which is Hebrew for "unclean" or "an abomination." It's in a list. It goes something like this.

To lie with another man is tehovah.
For a man to have long hair is tehovah.
For a woman to have short hair is tehovah.
For a woman to wear her hair down instead of up is tehovah.

I swear they're back to back right there. Nobody ever agrees with anything in Leviticus anymore, but they try to cherrypick that one passage to say that G-d hates homosexuality.

That's the only part of the entire Bible that directly says homosexuality is bad, and it's in the JOKE BOOK of Leviticus.

Sodom and Gomorrah never says it's bad. As I mentioned earlier, Ezekiel asks G-d why he destroyed those towns and he says they were too selfish and gave nothing to the poor.

And there's one of the Epistles in which Paul is talking shit about this town where they have gay orgies, so people claim that's anti-gay. But actually, that tribe forced people to rape each other, in their church, as part of their prayer service, so it was more of a "don't force sex on people" and "don't force people to pray in weird ways" kind of complaint.

Leave the Bible out of this. We've done our homework.

I am not the smartest christian you know (shown by luinil's superior knowledge) But I do know that for something to happen in my religion, it must be because of something.  And the bible isn't a book, it is a collection of books.  And about that face value part... Sometime's the bible uses personification and stuff like that, so it's all about the way you interperet it. (which explains why some christians believe in different things)

Did you know that it's actually possible for gay people to have kids? They still produce sperm. They can find an egg and even a surrogate mother to give birth to it.

Gayness means they don't fall in love with women. It doesn't mean that they absolutely have to die without kids.

That's fine, if you want a bastard son, and don't mind him being traumatized for life.

I don't see how that would traumatize kids for life.  It happens in several countries, and these kids come out fine.

Never the less, you don't know the impact it can have on a kid. The mom and dad formula has worked well since the dawn of man, if you change it, who knows what can happen. And artificial insemination is not natural. It's something that should be used if you want to have a baby, but can't find a partner etc. Not if you chose to be gay. CHOSE being the key word. It's a choice, and if you choose it, well, you choose to have no kids. And as for people who are bi.... Well, that spreads diseases and shouldn't be done. CHOOSE A LIFESTYLE. Didn't STD's increase exponentially in the 1970's?

Anyway, I rather a person be gay than bi anyday.

No.  You're wrong.  We actually DO KNOW THE IMPACT.  There is none.  There are several countries who have been letting gay couples adopt kids for quite some time.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adoption_by_same-sex_couples

Adoption by same-sex couples is legal in Guam, Andorra, Belgium, Iceland,[1] the Netherlands, Norway [2], Sweden, South Africa, Spain, the United Kingdom, some parts of Australia, Canada and some parts of the United States.

Yeah, it's happening in America.

These kids grow up fine.  You have the internet.  I'm sure you can find one.  Go ask one if their gay parents made them grow up dumb or gay.  Don't blame me if they bitchslap you across the internet.

The Bible contradicts itself all the time. It must be nice to be able to change rules and laws whenever it is suitable. If you can now eat "unclean" animals, can you still curse your mother or father, or will you be put to death? Would you be put to death if you wear clothing made from more than one fiber? How about picking up sticks on the Sabbath? Should someone be killed for that?

If you pick and choose which passages in the Bible you want to follow, why are you choosing to condemn gay people yet say those who plant more than one crop in the same field are fine? Its bigotry. You are no better than a racist.

Whether it has an impact or not, it isn't right. Be gay= have no kids. Be straight= have kids. This is a cheating side step basically, and shouldn't be allowed.

And no matter how many tests and such say it's right and there is no effect on a kid, there will always be an effect. Whether they were just bad parents, or convinced an adopted kid his religion was wrong. I'm sure his real parents would be pleased. (sarcastic!!!!!)
