Forums - Nintendo - Zelda, Nintendo’s E3 ace up their sleeve…

I dunno, I prefer this time actually.

Fans are always better to talk to around this time. I'm sick of people saying Twilight Princess is a bad/sub-par game, which it clearly is not. Yet prior to the release it was all "I would kill for a new Zelda". Really? Because you moaned about Wind Waker for several years and a group of fans have been moaning about TP for the past 18 months. Why would you be excited for another one? Personally I've really enjoyed WW, TP and PH and am excited for another Zelda, but no doubt moaning fans will kick off once it's close to release. It’s always the same, I want to talk about how great a game is after YEARS of waiting (currently Smash Bros), but it seems most forum users would rather trash the game :/

As for this E3? I'm not expecting a Zelda announcement but it would be nice. They only recently said "the Zelda team is back together" and they didn't actually say "the Zelda team are making a new Zelda" they could be working on something else... hopefully not.

Then you should start talking to me, dude. I loved all the games you mentioned in your post from day one until now :P

Somebody said in the other thread that TP was done in 2005, but delayed for the wii. Then there are rumors that the wii Zelda has been in since development a year before TP was launched. Now I don't know about you but 3 years is more than enough. Actually 2 years is more than enough for a team of 50-100 to at least make something that looks like a Zelda game. I wouldn't be surprised if there was an announcement at E3.

 Maybe I will

Don't get me wrong there are other great Zelda games, but those 3 take a huge brunt of undeserved criticism (TP in particular). And no it's not all Zelda fans, but too many would rather pick a great game to pieces rather than just enjoying what has been created.

Yeah, definitely. I really don't see where all the criticism for TP comes from. Lots of people said they wanted a OoT-like Zelda experience with current-gen(current then, as in PS2/GC/XB) graphics and stuff, and I felt it definitely delivered. I personally like TP more than I like OoT.

@rick1331.

Windwaker is still my No1 game.
WW>>OoT=TP

I have little to no complaints about Windwaker and never did (people complaining about it being "cartoony" annoyed me) I think my problem with TP is that I was too hyped for it, I just couldn't help looking at screens and videos in the weeks before release, next time I am going to assert more willpower over myself.

This is how it goes in terms of my favorite zeldas that I played.
Alttp>MM>TWW>TP>OoT>LoZ>MC>PH>OoA>OoS>AoL. I thought Tp was overhyped, and that is why it some people don't like it. Windwaker had the Cel-Shaded art design so that is why some people didn't like it. I for one thought they were both excellent games.

Zelda was a launch game for Wii and a final kiss to Gamecube, which is a different pattern than in previous generations. As has been stated, the DS Zelda had a big internal team as well and I don't think the team wants to spend its entire time at Nintendo making Zelda. They are entitled to work on their own projects.

You have to consider what internal projects Nintendo can do that would drive sales and Zelda isn't really one of them at this point for Wii.

This tends to be about the time Nintendo reveals new projects as well. You've got to figure Pikmin 3, Animal Crossing, Kid Icarus are the big projects internally or cooperatively with other devs. Besides those, I think we could see some broader partnerships with companies like Square-Enix after watching how successful Mario & Sonic was for Wii & DS. Things like Disaster, Wii Music, Wii Ware are going to get top billing as well, and thats before you look at DS. Since Zelda tends to get a ton of hype, but only drives sales the first time it releases on a new platform, you have to figure it won't be shown just so some of these other projects get top-billing.

...I love Zelda...

My Games of 2011:

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Super Mario 3D Land

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

Normally I'd agree with this, but Iwata has this new policy of announcing games just months before release (like Mario Kart, and Kid Icarus next), so I'm afraid we won't see the next Zelda until E309, though I do believe that a Holiday '09 release is planned.

Please, please, PLEASE let them announce it at this E3. ;_;
