it automatically becomes a much more important release.

??? Because it's predecessors had low sales it suddenly becomes more important? Weird reasoning IMO. Important is still rated in absolute sales correct? So selling more than a low selling predecessor doesn't make a game more important, more successful than its predecessors perhaps.

And even the reasoning that just because there are not many survival horror games on the Wii, it will sell better than on PS360 is hardly convincing. Perhaps fans of survival horror are more inclined to buy a game on PS360 than on Wii? Perhaps in this genre great graphics and atmosphere beats motion controls? But we will see.

It has nothing to do wtih previous editions. It has to do with the increase in brand appeal due to being more important to the Wii lineup and because it has less competition for sales. It's similar reasoning to why launch titles do so much better than any other.

And I never said it was going to sell amazing, I'm just saying given the circumstances it has a much better chance to sell. And yes I do think it'll sell better on Wii than if it had been on PS360 for once again said reasoning. Now if Fatal Frame had been a big series, similar to that of RE, then I would think it would sell best on PS360. But because this is a smaller series and the given reasons, I have to go with Wii. While it'd probably get overshadowed on the PS3 and 360, it's harder for that to happen on the Wii because less saturation in that area of the game library for Wii.

If this game gets good enough marketing, it could become the ToS of the Wii

For Japan maybe, but it'll probably see a lot stronger openings in America and the European areas. Especially if no RE game is announced for Wii this holidays. Wow that would jsut be Tecmo's best friend. Enter with no competition.

Retailers won't order too much? Remember this is Nintendo publishing it haha. Retailers will buy a lot.

Which is exactly what I'm trying to explain to him.  ToS on the GC sold well because it entered and unsaturated market.

And it should get decent marketing, considering Nintendo is behind it.

If a game sells well its most likely sells more in America than in any othe country.
Just look at all the sales Mario Galaxy Twilight Princess Brawl theyve all sold more in America than in japan.
So im not too worried about this. Nintendo is backing it up AND publishing it.

This game'll do better than the previous versions without a doubt. Honestly, how many of you in this thread actually heard of Fatal Frame before number 4 was announced by Nintendo? I sure as hell didn't.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

Yeah that is true. The most I heard of it was gametrailers top ten scariest game count down Fatal Frame 2 was the second most scariest. But not enought to remember the serious as anything big.

i guess fatal frame is not that popular in japan

ihope FFIV does better

I saw this post and immediately thought "what the hell does Final Fantasy IV on the DS have to do with this?"

I hope this game does better than past iterations. Considering that the Wii isn't exactly flooded with great 3rd party support or survival horror games at the moment, I see this doing quite well.

Yes I realize there is great support coming, but I mean right now.

I heard of the series but never played because I never had a last gen console. I did read up on it though so Im a but familiar.

I have updated the OP with some new data. Famitsu's number for FF3's week #1 is 20% higher than Media Create's.

As usual in video game franchises, each game was more frontloaded than the previous one. This is definitely not a big franchise in Japan, so it will be interesting to see how it does on the Wii.

My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957

I would like to see Fatal Frame 1-3 come to the Wii.
