Well, as far as i know the gold Edition is the same price as the standard, so if you can, grab the gold and enjoy a little bit of extra guns and features.
If not, it's no major loss.

Thanks for the review. Could you perhaps say how much the gold edition costs compared to the standard one. It certainly would make the decision of which one to buy a lot easier.
The game sounds good. I would much prefer 14 small multiplayer maps rather than only 8 big ones, though.

Yep, it is heaps longer than COD4.
And i paid 80 dollars (AUD) for my gold edition, the Standard one was also 80 dollars.
So it's a win-win situation. :)

$80 AUD? I've never seen a new release PS3/360 game for less then $100. Did you get it at a sale?
