Battlefield Bad Company Review

Recently i brought Battlefield Bad Company Gold edition for the Xbox 360, there is two versions, the Standard and the Gold edition, the only real differences is that the Gold edition allows you to start with 5 rank 25 weapons at the beggining of the game, and also has some Clips including, the making of, and a few Multiplayer tips.

The Story

The story begins with Preston Marlow (You) who joines a devision of the army, called the B-Company, also known as Bad-Company, This devision is known as a reckless and savage devision, who is only made up of 3 people known as, Sarge, Haggard and Sweetwater, each has their own quirky humour and proffesion.

The first mission is working for the United States military doing search and destroy, Invasions and capturing small little villages all in this little Eastern European country fighting Russian troops.

As you play along you will encounter a new enemy known as "Mercenaries" who are elite soldiers with good supplies and have alot of influence over parts of the country, when you take out your first lot, sweet water tells you a story on how they pay their soldiers, and pay for equipment, by bars of gold, this turns the B-Company's thoughts of fighting for the United States honour into a Greedy Treasure Hunt, as you progress though the game you will find Cases of Mercenaries Gold and new weapons hiding around in buildings and in every little corner of the map.

The Gameplay

With by the "Frostbite Engine" Dice has managed to create a massive sandbox game inwhich 99 percent of anything is destructable, can't be bothered using a door? pull out your grenade and blast a 10 foot hole in the wall and walk through, and kill and steal anything you can find.

There is litterally hundreds of weapons in the games, ranging from the Humble M16 to the M95 Sniper rifle waiting to be used to blow away Mercenaries and Russian "Red" soldiers, there is also a few vehicles, which also range from a M1 tank to a Apache Longbow chopper, sadly Dice has decided to take out Jet Fighters, but you can still call in JDAM's to blow up towns and sniper positions.

There is also new items and "Collectables" to be found everywhere, including some old freinds from Battlefield 2.

As soon as you begin to play you will feel and see the battlefield style gameplay, which is a good feeling because it is a Console only Release.

The graphics are incredible, especially the detail, camo actuallyworks, sometimes it takes you upto 10 minutes to find an enemy sniper position, which can be sometimes annoying, but when you pull out your high powered rifle and shoot him in the face, it all seems worth it.

The death and revive system is very similar to Bioshock, where you spawn at your last point, like the chambers in Bioshock, it is pretty easy to die with all the Tanks and Enemies, but you also get this "Life-2 needle" which you can use to jab yourself back to 100 health instantly, you can use it every ten seconds or so, so feel free to "Rambo" Russian soldiers and Tanks.

The sound sounds Autenticly real with gun echo's, Tank bullets making a Huge sonic BOOM then hitting the target with a huge explosion sound.

The Multiplayer

Battlefield Bad Company's online Multiplayer is purely awesome, it has the whole Battlefield experience on a whole new level, the destruction from Single player is brought into the game awesomely, so if you suspect someone hiding in the building, why not blast a hole in the wall and spray them with your high powered weapon?

Eight maps seems pretty small, but they are MASSIVE for a 24-Player deathmatch with vehicles everywhere.

There is suposidly a new game mode and maps comming out in the close months ahead.

Conclusion

Battlefield Bad Company is a new step in the Battlefield franchise, with the edition of a very in depth single player, it is a step to the future, the game truely shines in and out of Multiplayer and Single player , if your a fan or a newcommer and you have a PS3 or a Xbox 360, you should get this game, it has long lasting appeal and i think you will have a blast with it.

I just rented the game and its really badass. The campaign is cool, although imo I dont like how the devs made the cut-scenes but the dialogue is hilarious! The MP is top notch but the only game mode is Attack&Defend which IS awsome but Im definitely going to re-rent it or buy it once the devs release the Conquest mode which was killer in Battlefield2 Modern Combat.

Cool review Jessman, it gets straight to the point.

Why didn't they release conquest mode with the game itself if it was that popular? :/

Tease.

I have no clue, maybe since Attack &Defend goes along with the story (capturing gold) they probably didnt want Conquest to outshine it??? These maps (when there entirely unlocked) are pretty big so with Conquest these fights will be epic. They also probably delayed Conquest so they can increase the cap size to 32????

This game is, without a doubt, worth renting if not buying. As said b/f the voice acting is hilarious. IMHO the sound and chaos from all the explosions is probably some of the best work on the console to date. A bold proclamation indeed, but dammit my surround sound was giving me a headache after just a few multiplayer matches. I love the attack+defend gametype but conquest mode, when it's released, is where the fun will be at

Cool review. To be honest, I skimmed it, so I might have missed the answer to this:

How long is the single player campaign?

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

It took me roughly 16 hours, thats including searching around for gold and weapons.
