Forums - Gaming - Exclusives hurt Gamers and Developers

Games are the backbone of any console. Without them, consoles obviously suffer greatly. Exclusives help distinguish one console from another so, If multi-platform games continue to be prevalent I only see the 360 benefitting because it's the cheapest of the two and for the most part you're getting the same game.

Pixel Art can be fun.

i prefere exclusives games to be honest.

Exclusive games in my opinion are good becaue it it allows the developer to fully concentrate on one game and take better advantage of the hardware.

For example a game like GeOW or MGS4 would have not have been so graphically impressive if the ga,e were multiplat because with game like that you really do need to take full advantage of the hardware for it to run well.

Do you reslly think GT5 would be 1080p 60FPS if it was multiplat

Right on on GT5P but Gears runs on generic middleware with minimal optimizing for crying out loud.

Its a multiplatform engine.

Sorry, but did you completely ignore the wii in your post? Anyway for developers hd console exclusives may be bad, but wii ones no. For consumers its always been this way, and I guess if they want a game then they may have to get the console its on.

Wii exclusive third party games ARE bad, they sell worth shit regardles how good they actually are.

Examples?

Almost all of em.

Boom Blox is a really nice example of a third party game performing way below expectations.

Then we have stuff like Zack and Wiki, Monkeyball, Rayman Raving Rabbits 2(lacking the launch window advantage) etcetera.

Boom Blox is the only valid one, but that is because it was advertised to a specific audience. That of little boys.

Monkeyball? With that games budget 500k is bad?and it wasn't even that good. It got low 70s.

RRR2  enough said.

Zack and Wiki is part of a very niche genre. Tell me some recent point and click adventures that sold alot.

How bout you look at games like resident evil 4 wii edition and umbrella chronicles.

Well if you are referring to the xbox 360 not being powerful enought then I am going to tell you that the game isn't technically challenging to produce. Racing Sims never been, and its really easy to make the best graphics, framerate, and resolution. The worlds are far small compared to anyother game, which means that you don't have to load up much at once. You load most of what you see on the track, and GT5p, probably could run on both consoles with the same results. Now if you are talking about a bad port, then I woulld say that whichever console its getting developed for will get better results, but it would depend on the developer.

Oh seen.

I know that the 360 could run the game the same as the ps3.

I am just saying that the developers have to do double the work to get the game running on both consoles. so if they expect the game to come out within a decent time-frame then they are going to cut back on development compared to a developer who is only working on one game.

So in theory it would be very dificult to get the ga,e to run at 1080P 60FPS would you agree

Wait, wut??

Boom Blox sold a quarter of a million in 2 months. Unless your expectations were that it was going to rival or even outsell Mario Kart or Wii Fit, I don't see what the problem is.

Zack and Wiki sold 100k over Capcom's LTD expectations and it hasn't even been on the market for a year.

Moneky ball lol.

RRR2 WTF?
