Boom Blox is a really nice example of a third party game performing way below expectations.

Then we have stuff like Zack and Wiki, Monkeyball, Rayman Raving Rabbits 2(lacking the launch window advantage) etcetera.

 

Wait, wut??

Boom Blox sold a quarter of a million in 2 months. Unless your expectations were that it was going to rival or even outsell Mario Kart or Wii Fit, I don't see what the problem is.

Zack and Wiki sold 100k over Capcom's LTD expectations and it hasn't even been on the market for a year.
