Boom Blox is a really nice example of a third party game performing way below expectations. Then we have stuff like Zack and Wiki, Monkeyball, Rayman Raving Rabbits 2(lacking the launch window advantage) etcetera.

Boom Blox is the only valid one, but that is because it was advertised to a specific audience. That of little boys.
Monkeyball? With that games budget 500k is bad?and it wasn't even that good. It got low 70s.

Zack and Wiki is part of a very niche genre. Tell me some recent point and click adventures that sold alot.
How bout you look at games like resident evil 4 wii edition and umbrella chronicles.
