Diablo 2 probably sold around 8 millions copies.
The entire Diablo franchise has over 17 millions copies sold (Diablo 1 + D1 Expansion + Diablo 2 + D2 Expansion)
Diablo is the best Action/RPG series ever.
From IGN's Pardo interview:
"We had bosses in Diablo II but, again, they weren't really involved. We really want to try to implement bosses that are much more epic, there's much more gameplay to actually defeating them. We're taking cues from games like Zelda, God of War, games like that, bring that to the action-RPG genre. We want to have side quests and scenarios that are much more involved…like defend the town from attack or something like that."
"Diablo III will be similar to Diablo II in terms of its overall structure. There'll still be acts. There'll be above and underground sections of maps, though the outdoor environment won't be as randomized, as Blizzard wants to build more distinct personality into some of the game's sections. There still will be plenty of randomization though when it comes to items, monsters, and dungeons."
More Epicness. More Gameplay to Defeating Bosses. More Variety. More Personality. Same Acts Structure as Diablo II.
Awesomace!
Just saw the teaser. It was awesome. Can't wait for this game. I'm glad the game is being made to be able to play on a wide range of PCs and that Direct 10X isn't required
I enjoyed Diablo 2 (hated the original), but why people call it an RPG is beyond me. It barely even has a story, let alone actual role playing.
Hey shio, I see about ten spell buttons in that GIF you just posted. Looks like they are borrowing a little from WoW. I did find that the two-button gameplay of 2 wore a little thin after a while.

It is an RPG. Even WRPGs are limited in actual roleplaying. Diablo is indeed an RPG....an action-RPG to be specific

Your assertions aren't enough to convince me. There's a vast difference between limited role playing and no roleplaying whatsoever. I let it slide for JRPGs because they at least tend to be story-driven, even if there's rarely any decision making on the part of the player.
The 'story' in Diablo 2 was more of an obstruction than an enhancement. STFU Deckard, I'm only talking to you because it's required before I go to the next zone. Oh, and identify this crap I picked up, will you chum? Stop raving you stupid boss, I have to burn through your mountain of health before you hit me three times in a row.
