In the past Sony has reported produced units, so these are not shipped as in sold to retailer numbers.

This article from Sony indicates that it passed 120 million November of last year.

They stopped reporting production shipments since March 2007. The 127m through 2007 should be retail shipments.

Actually it just says it passed 120m sales during it's eigth year, not specifically in November.
