Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft to get more aggressive in Europe.

What Microsoft really needs is more localized marketing in Europe. Sony and Nintendo have this all set up; Microsoft seems to blanket its advertisements and distribution.

Make each country feel special, MS. For example, make it clear that you are marketing to Spain, and not just "country [x] in European Region." That is, in my opinion, MS's greatest fault in the EU region. It also explains why they seem to do so well in English speaking regions (where localization of marketing and advertisement is not an issue) but poorly everywhere else.

To be fair, I don't see any difference between Nintendo and Microsoft in that regard. Sony is the only one which really made an effort in this area.

Do you want one example? Wii Fit isn't localized for most of Europe's languages. Not even with subtitles (which is all the smalller countries demand since that's the standard for movies and TV shows).

ms are not doing that bad in europe the gap is shrinking big time.
also does anybody think ms will give up without a fight.
it goes against there way of thinking.
sony had them on the ropes with ps2 but let them get up again will ms do the same. I dont think so.

Theres nothing they can do. if that big price-cut didnt work then nothing will.

What left can they do to win europe

a. Reduce the price again (not a good option)

b. Produce a redesigned console and get several independent labs to verify it is bulletproof

c. Produce more European-focused games

d. Heavy marketing in Europe

They really need to do b, c, and d, IMHO.

b is possible ie slimline. euro games, I am not sure what you mean I am European and have no problem with the 360 catalouge.

I keep hearing that hard-core FPS games aren't as popular in Europe as in the US, so I'm thinking they could place even more of a focus on what Europeans like.  I didn't mean to imply there are no games on the 360 that appeal to Europeans.

no i just didnt get the euro thing no offence was intended i suppose we all have different tastes in games I just feel the 360 is catering to a lot of different gaming preferences unlike the ps3.

just my opinion.

The gap is shrinking? what gap? AFAIK, the only gap that's shrinking is M$'s lead over the PS3...

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

In Europe, we're not stupid enough to buy products that break.
Actually, some are stupid enough to do that or just didn't know, but usually we don't.
We strive for quality, so now MS knows what to do, it's probably too late though.
Besides, we don't have the same return policies as what is available in the USA, which makes it worse.
And if some europeans don't want to support a company that will violate european laws to harm europeans, that's all the better. USA may have surrendered to MS, Europe won't.
I don't even need to go deep into difference of culture. You can force your culture on others only so much.
Then, you're going to meet resistance.

LOL yeah and my ass is made of chicken and my mom is queen elisabeth.... like europe as even an artifact remaining of there cultural identity let me laugh.... i'm from the most pretentious country in europe about their culture... let me tell you how big of a joke it is... and the numbers for education quality are there to prove my point... the cultural exception of europe is fading away with the baby boomers desappearing.....

now quality products ??? most of the high end brands are not even available in major electronics stores.... even best buy in USA has a wider range of product with a top quality well above what you can find in most European retail stores.. at list in old continental Europe and UK....

The pretension of my fellow European against USA is starting to piss me off bing time when they don't actually have shit to back it up... beside an over sized ego.... that's disgusting.... and degrading...

as a 360 owner who lives in the UK (i assume MS counts us as europe) i want more top of the range exclusive shooters and driving games on the 360, free xbox live would be good. If MS wants to get some real European glory then the should try to make a game like PES or FIFA a 360 exclusive

fifa now way they'll get that unless moore is still working under the table for them.... PES why not... PS got it exclusive back in the days didn't they ???? why not but I'm not sure it would be enough.... it's more the entire library that needs to be more eclectic.... even in the genre we already have.... I think pushing brand new IPs could be a good solution....
