Forums - Sales - Famitsu hardware results in, PS3 big drop

People act as if Sony is the only one that can offer bundles, new colors, price drops, etc.

Nintendo could do any or all of these things, heck they may even be able to make the Wii even smaller.

What on earth were you guys expecting? 80k a week from now on? One title no matter what it is will never change the weekly trends alone.

Well... I hope you guys have enjoyed your week. =)

Yeah but the potential improvement for the Wii is much smaller. The Wii already costs 200$, it is barely larger than a DVD drive. The PS3 on the other hand has big room for improvement in both categories. (And I don't think people care about colors for home consoles as much as for handhelds which are like accessories)

By the time the PS3 is 200 I think the new Xbox will already be available.

not me I was expecting 90k SW and 30k HW. Slightly lower than projections.

Why is Final Fantasy XIII the "last hope"? I'm pretty sure any game released on the system that has any sort of following in Japan increases it's overall chance of being purchased no >_>? Anyways, I'm sure everyone knew this was going to happen :P No console sells the same rate after a huge title drops. You'll always get a huge sales surge followed by a drop-off.

Not really true for certain Wii titles.

Also, Monster Hunter Portable and the PSP sales of Japan say hello!

Slim PS3 will have much longer effect then a single game. MGS4 moved extra 100k consoles in last two weeks which is great. But i don't think Sony have planned to release slim PS3 this year or next, which mean it will have to rely on games to push any systems otherwise 10k is what it will do at best.

And I think you're overestimating the impact of a smaller model will have. Wii Fit is fairly bulky, yet it's already sold more than the PS3. And the combination of Wii + Wii Fit is almost the same price as a PS3.

Also, I think that because the high cost of the PS3, it makes a person less inclined to upgrade as they expect their investment to last longer.

It was kinda expected but hopefully it dosent drop below 10k
