"Sony has more to offer in terms of 1st party games than Nintendo, of all companies? I... don't think so."
Okay. Wii Sports Resort will probably be picked up by those that enjoyed the first one, but other than that, all Nintendo really has is Zelda and Mario. And only having Zelda and Mario really didn't do much to help Nintendo win the fifth and 6th generations did it?
On the other hand, Sony has first party studios like Insomniac, Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog, Quantum Dream, Sony Japan and America, Polyphony Digital, along with third party developers like Kojima and Square that consider the PS3 to be the place where they want to put their truely cutting edge games. The same studios that helped Sony win the 5th and 6th generations will put the Playstation 3 ahead in this gen by the Christmas holidays 2010.
"Also, while FFXIII and GT5 may move systems when they're respectively released, I think the fact that the PS3 on MGS4's launch week only barely beat the Wii, when the Wii had no big releases and is still supply constrained, should be an indicator that hardcore system-sellers will not push the PS3 above the Wii, period."
MGS4 by itself allowed the PS3 to beat the Wii at a time when most of the Wii's best games and products of this gen had already been released -- Galaxy, Twilight Princess, MP3, Wii Fit, Smash Brothers, Mario Kart, and when Wii was enjoying the pinnacle of its success. The Wii is not going to sell much more than 50,000,000 consoles this gen; and there's a storm approaching called the PS3's game lineup including Heavy Rain, God of War III, InFamous, Uncharted 2, the best version of Final Fantasy XIII, Little Big Planet, Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 2, Mag, Team ICO Project, and Kojima's next project that is going to make the Wii's sales lead at this time look about as strong as New Orlean's leveies did when Katrina started to move ashore. It's already started all Nintendo has planned for release for the rest of the year are Animal Crossing and Wii Music, and don't expect much help from 3rd parties as 3rd parties prefer to work on the hd consoles because they allow them to make bigger names for themselves by delivering flashier games like Mirror's Edge and Fallout 3 that the Wii can't begin to handle -- there's a reason that the new Prince of Persia and Beyond Good and Evil 2 haven't been announced as coming to the Wii and that is it.
My most anticipated games: Whatever Hideo Kojima is going to do next, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Alan Wake, Wii Sports Resort. Cave Story Wiiware.
