It's pretty obvious that Microsoft benefited from Wii and PS3 shortages last year. The playstation brand has since lost a lot of its appeal (and exclusives). Further, the PS3 will be available this holiday season.
If Nintendo doesn't catch up with demand by Christmas, Microsoft will probably have another larger-than-usual holiday season. To be fair, Microsoft did an awful lot themselves to make it easy to purchase their console when no others could be found (plenty of stock, plenty of deals) and pushed rebates, bundles and other great deals to spark sales. They *wanted* 10 million by the end of 2006 badly.
Wii stock probably won't be sufficient for Christmas. Expect the 360 to do as well this year as last year.
