Forums - Gaming - Entertainment Weekly's Top 50 Games of the Last 25 Years

Far from the worst list I've seen, although of course I have a lot of disagreements. There are some pretty glaring omissions that just about anybody would include, too, such as Super Mario Bros. 3.

SSBB Friend Code = 5455-9050-8670 (PM me if you add so I can add you!)

Tetris Party Friend Code = 116129046416 (ditto)

4. Super Mario World-SNES-1991
6. Street Fighter II-SNES-1991
7. Super Mario Kart-SNES-1992
15. Chrono Trigger-SNES-1995
22. Super Metroid-SNES-1994
41. Tecmo Super Bowl-SNES-1991

A lot of SNES games

Well of course.. the SNES was one of the finest console ever.. maybe the finest!

No a Link to the Past?  Seriously, they only included one Zelda, and it was the only they would've been crucified for had they not included it.

The lack of SM64 among others combined with the inclusion of GTAIV, TESIV, etc. befuddles me.

This list fails.

No MGS2? What a laugh.

That list is pretty crappy. It includes a lot of games from the last 3 years, and it clearly includes a meh Final Fantasy title (FF3 on NES is not a great game, although if I understood Japanese it might be better), also TESIV is one of the worst TES games.

This list also does not include many genre defining games, since this is the last 25 years, where are games like Fallout(1 or 2), FF:Tactics(any), Fire Emblem (pick one), Ogre Battle(SNES one), and no Smash Brothers(despite there being 3 mediocre 1on1 fighters).

I could obviously go on all day, but this list is pretty bad.

I can't be bothered to scan the list completely, but I saw Soul Calibur, and that is as far from mediocre as you can get. And as for Final Fantasy 3, it's possible that they are referring to Final Fantasy 6. Either way, this is a decent list. Although, I must be the only one who thinks that putting Tetris at #1 seems somewhat bold.

The list seems sort of random, with certain "cult" games seemingly thrown in just to appease the "hardcore" crowd. I'll mention only one thing that struck me as especially odd: Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo being on there, with no mention of Panel de Pon/Tetris Attack/Puzzle League/what-have-you. Nonsense.

Hates Nomura.
