Forums - Gaming Discussion - McCain nabs videogame score for campaign ad; composer pissed

It seems as though the composer doesn't have the basic sense of friendship and acceptance for McCain since his bias has clouded him.

I really hate that last jibe he made at the end regarding Obama. It's like this whole thing was just a publicity stunt.

Current respect for the composer as a person is at 0.

Lol did anyone else get an image in their mind of McCain at a computer cutting together the commercial?

Honestly, this isnt the first time that McCain used someone else's song that didn't even support him.

I think McCain really needs to at least try to find out if the people support him before using the songs. It's not technically illegal though because legally, 30 seconds can be sampled of a song without any repricussions.

I think it was tactless to say "I support barack obama." I think simply stating "I do not support McCain" would have been just as effective and relevant. For me, it's all in the wording. Which by the way seemed like he was fishing for sympathy. "Oh I was in this war. I did this. I did that. " and it got on my nerves.

Why does it matter if the guy supports him or not?

If the song has the same message that hes trying to get out and is popular why wouldnt he use it?

hes at it agian! i read an article in the paper where they revealled several other artists made similar complaints about his appropriation of theyre songs.

it's quite logical that McCain would use a lot of songs from people that don't support him. Most of the artistic world is democrat...
It's the same as saying that you won't use the television because the guy who invented it was something when you're the opposit... Just absurd.

And even if the guy doesn't like McCain, he should be honored that his music be used and not offended. Being offended shows radical views and not openmindedness. His answer should have just been: "i'm honored but do not approve of his politics".

I'd be annoyed if my music was used by a party I don't support, but this guys just crazy.

Oh no. McCain did the same thing every single candidate running for any office who has done.

That would be no problem for McCain. Philo T Farnsworth was a life long republican.

He was even an alternate delegate to the Republican National convention. Well he didn't invent the TV. But he was the first person to actually make the TV "work".

Closest American to have anything to do with TV invention.  Also has a kickassname.

Maybe McCain's soundtrack should have been his own rendition of "Bomb Iran" to the tune of "Barbara Ann." That would more accurately portray his beliefs about war, I think.

This composer is going a little over the top, since this is fair use. I'm not sure why he's rambling on about entrepreneurship and patriotism.

But then again, he should probably feel a little sick to his stomach after hearing his music being used to try to paint a delusional warmonger who wants a permanent presence in Iraq as peace-loving.

He should probably feel physically sick that the song he composed is being used to try to trick Americans into 4 more years of continual, escalating, and entirely pointless war.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

Obama also wants a permanent presense in iraq...

I don't get where people get the idea that Obama wants to end the war in Iraq. He wants to pull out troops to make the iraqis stand on his own... and he wants to have a permanent base in Iraq to keep a "terrorist strikeforce" that will unilaterally go into countries like pakistan without their governments approval and attack terrorists.

I don't know where people think Obama wants to withdraw from the reason. He's said himself he'd reverse troop movements if things in iraq got bad enough.

They both plan to see the war until it's through. Obama just wants to try pulling out troops to see if the Iraqi's are being lazy. Which last i saw was McCain's plan too... it's just he wants to pull out troops more gradually.

If your looking for a big seperating issue between the two candidates...

Iraq ain't it.

The problem with McCain is that he's Pro-Life and some of those Supreme Court Justices are pretty old. (Almost as old as McCain!)

The amusing thing is people will treat these two candidates as if they were the two most different candidates you've ever seen... when in reality they are so alike in all of the major campaign issues it makes me laugh.

Did you know... McCain is actually the bigger enviromentalist of the two?
