Let's not forget the sound they make.
Although 'the shwartz' is nearly as cool

Seriously, how can you not like light sabers. I wish I had one.

And before any asks: Yes, my schwartz IS bigger than yours.

I guess their cool how they light up and stuff, but I haven't got into it either...

It's far beyond the cool factor. Everything about them is, for lack of better word, sensual. They are graceful, make great offensive weapons, make great defensive weapons (they reflect projectiles), they hum as they are being wielded, the lightsaber somehow knows how to become a color that suits the wielder's character, they self-holster, they make dramatic entrances, instead of an annoying 'tinging' sound when they collide they make a manly 'electrical discharge' sound....

Man i better stop before I nerdgasm.

BTW, is this just to put the Wii down? That's what the OP struck me as.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

no. I own a Wii, by the way.

I'm just interested in the fascination many nerds have about lightsabers.

I have the same fascination with lightsabers myself, but I never stopped to think about why everyone likes them so much.
