Forums - PC - Mass Effect Allows Only Three Installs on PC

yeah i read about this and i was suprised

tag:"reviews only matter for the real hardcore gamer"

What a load of bullshit. Im glad I got the 360 version, had I purchased the pc version I would have found a way around it though. treating honest customers like criminals is never a good business practice, whats next? Being unable to play console games on multiple consoles?

This type of thing is annoying because it prevents people from renting/trading PC games.

I honestly don't care.

A) I bought Mass Effect for PC.

B) I played through it and loved the game.

If you're going to let this get to you, then that's fine...it is a little over the top for DRM. But I think I can handle uninstalling the game if I so desire, and otherwise, if I somehow broke the game in 5 years' time or whatever, I'll download a 100kb crack and there ya go. I still felt like supporting a good game like Mass Effect and I think it's childish to whine about things like this when consoles themselves are extremely limited.

On a platform like the PC, infinitely upgradeable and hackable, certain steps need to be taken to ensure pirates can't download a game willy-nilly.

This is not a right step, but I'm not going to burst a blood vessel either.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

What is so wrong with so many people on a gaming site picking piracy as the first answer to a problem ??

And you guys say you like games ???

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Where were you guys a couple of months ago when PC gamers were actually discussing this? You would have found out that EA's original plan were even worse. This is an improvement and I was mollified enough to buy the game. The upside is that you don't need to DVD in the drive to play it. Spent 25 hours playing it through and is worth every dime.

It's just like those anti-piracy adverts and unskippable menus you get when you actually buy a dvd. I bought the damn dvd, don't give me anti-piracy adverts you tools!!! Makes you want to download it instead even more.

"Piracy is wrong. If you pirated this, you could be enjoying the movie right now instead of watching this please don't pirate this movie you bought warning"

IT'S COUNTER PRODUCTIVE!!!

The pirates will still pirate this game like they would have done and it's the legitimate customers who will suffer. You seriously gotta wonder how the prople who think up this stuff still have a job.

"I have a great idea. Lets needlessly annoy everyone who actually bought the game and have no impact on piracy at all because those who pirate it will get a patched version"

"That's an amazing idea. You can become an executive in this company!"

Except it's an overexaggeration.

The average user won't give a sh*t.

I put in the DVD, installed it, and played.  No hassle.

I might get hassled if I try to install it on a bunch of different PCs, but who the hell does that anyway?  For the average user, this won't matter at all.

It's mainly going to be an issue for people who actually go back and play their old games and upgrade computers every couple of years. I for one wouldn't be a happy camper if this type of bullshit was on my starcraft CD.

there are people who have HDD crashes and the OS dies. It has happened to me a dozen or so times.

Spore will be the same way too. I think even the creature creator has this crap.
