Forums - General - "R" Rated Movies

So I'm 17, and in the US, that is the youngest age you can see a "R" Rated movie by yourself.  However, I want to go with friends and some are 15-16.  My question is this: Do I qualify as an "adult guardian" or is there stricter qualifications?  In simpler terms, can they get in if they're accompanied by me?

If it helps, I live in NC.

Edit:A rated R movie doesn't generally mean it has to be about sex.

You don't have to be 17, most of the time they'll just let anyone in.

Nintendo still doomed?

no but if they are family then yes

To qualify as a guardian, you would have to petition the courts to show that their parents are unfit and ask that you be given legal guardianship, which courts refuse to grant when the age difference between the potential guardian and the subject is too small. It would be easier for your friends to just get an emancipation.

Anyways, no you do not legally qualify as a Guardian when it comes to getting your friends into a movie.

Ahh but see if you look at the ratings guide, it says you need an "adult guardian" and not a "legal guardian."  I remember having this whole thing explained to me before, but I can't remember the exact details.

just try to get in

dont worry, im 15 and I have gotten into R rated movies before. Its easier than renting M rated games. Just make sure the ticket person is a dumb-looking teen.

try telling that those guys are family they might let like that

I just go in, I don't think my local theater cares.
