SC: Uhh, Lego games aren't the best example of Wii games outselling 360 games. For that matter, I could point out that the 360 versions of games sell better in the case of Smackdown vs. Raw, NBA 2K and Live, Madden, Call of Duty, Guitar Hero (although Wii legs are better), Fifa, and Tiger Woods. Lego games fit the Wii's demographics very well. Remember that back when the 2008 iterations of these games launched, the Wii had a similar to or larger userbase than the 360, although it wasn't in America which provided a lot of sales for these titles. Even with extrapolating, however, the 360 still comes out with an advantage in these titles.

Yes, but we've seen a decrease in 360 games outselling the wii games lately, and when they do it isn't by too much. This game could stand out more in the wii's userbase due to it not having much competition, and why don't lego games count. If it isn't similar to the game we are speaking of then we should say the same thing for all of those sports games you just mentioned. Then there is guitar hero which came to the wii much later, and was broken. Call of Duty was a launch game for the wii so I don't see how that should be considered. I was talking about lifetime sales btw guys. Not first week.

A decrease? There have barely been any titles this year that have been been on all the platforms, and most of the games this year have either been Wii and/or DS exclusive, or on the PS3 and 360 and maybe the PSP and PS2. Please list a good amount of examples of multiplatform games that sell better on the Wii, preferrably recently.

Your right there haven't been many, but the games that did release sold alot more in comparitive the 360 games compared to earlier multiplats.

If we're talking about Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, it had a lot of competition during the holiday season. However, the Wii has adopted a large chunk of the casual userbase that the PS2 had, which is why we're seeing games like Lego Star Wars sell so well on the Wii like they did on the PS2. Also, children, who are familiar with Nintendo and the Wii, buy these titles as well.

True, the games fit the wii's userbase more than the 360s.

As for Guitar Hero III, it didn't come much later. The Wii version launched alongside with the other versions save for Japan. The series itself can to Wii later than the Xbox 360 or PS2, but the same can be said about the PS2. Besides, Guitar Hero II came out on the 360 before the Wii itself did, at least as memory serves. And I don't remember GH3 being broken on the Wii. I'm pretty sure that a lot of people considered it to be the definitive version.

The game didn't have stereo when lauched. It was only mono. This is important for a music game and DLC.

And if we're looking at Call of Duty, well then, let's see. The Wii launched to much higher numbers in the U.S. and PAL than the 360 did, and the Xbox 360 had Call of Duty 2 as a launch title. Now of course Call of Duty 3 was a multiplatform mess, but the 360 version still sold more than Call of Duty 2 on the 360, so the Wii version should have at least beat the PS3 version, considering how absolutely horrendously PS3 supply was in America during the launch.

Call of Duty 2 was a far better game than 3, and most people who buy the game look at reviews and if you saw a game rated at 69 would you be quick to buy it? The ps3 and 360 versions were both have an average rating of 83, and had a rating of 90.

Anyways, the sun is up and I'm going to get myself something to drink.

But when was the last hardcore game released on both consoles for us to compare them? I don't think it was anytime soon.

360 version based on numbers from past multiplatform games. The Wii version won't sell more until it has a good 20+ million lead on the other consoles.

Well recently the wii has been outselling most 360 games. I believe the 360 only had a lead in previous games because of the userbase difference in the 360s favor. So it's possible the game could sell better on the wii.

@ Slimebeast Would that matter? Seriously hasn't it been proved that HD doesn't matter too much in this time period.

Casual/kid friendly games sell better on Wii.

Core/Mature games sell better on the 360.

Those are pretty much facts.

Examples of these core/mature games that have been multiplats on the wii and 360?

There aren't many. Doesn't that tell you something?

It tells me that your previous statement is fallacious until I see evidence. The only one I could think of in recent times is bully. That isn't enough to make your statement a fact though.

360. Biggest fanbase of "hardcore" gamers. Best version.

I won't predict, because I believe this game will set the standard for sales we expect in the future for Wii60 core game multiplat sales figures.

In other words, not enough information is available to determine sales of these titles.

I would love to see the Wii version sell more, but knowing my luck, the 360 will win and Legend will have 2 or 3 "Wii is doomed" articles up by the end of launch week.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Thanks for the numbers, they're interesting.

Alone in the Dark is traditionally a PC game. 360 owners and PC gamers seem to overlap quite a bit, so I'll still have to say 360. At least initially.

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)
PC: 10^9
Wii: 10^8

well ps360 version will obviously be the gamers choice, with top notch graphics and sound.

at a glance id say the 360 version, simply because of a temporary higher install base.

both 360 and ps3 versions will sell well, id say around 1.4 million for 360 and around 1 million for ps3 or mabey just under, thats if it turn out good

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

I believe first week 360 will get more sales, but lifetime the wii will get more.

Well the ps3 version is delayed, so I don't think it will sell even more than the wii or ps2 version. Also you don't know that every gamer would choose better graphics, (I don't really see how the sound benefits unless you are one of those people who need the best sound ever) over controls.

It is a fact o_O

You've been here for 6 months. How do you not know this already?

Just look at this - http://vgchartz.com/worldtotals.php?name=&console=Wii&publisher=&sort=Total

and this - http://vgchartz.com/worldtotals.php?name=&console=X360&publisher=&sort=Total

Now try to spot the difference.
