Forums - Gaming - Zenfoldor's way to get games really cheap, because he loves you:

I'm flattered by your title :)

OT: I've been thinking about trying out Ebay for game purchases, I'm about to pick up warhawk so I might start with that, prices look good so far, if they're cheaper than my local gamestop then I might give it a whirl.

Nice deal. People should buy Kameo. It's actually fun but people don't like it for whatever reason.

People that have never played it don't like it. I research my game purchases maticuliously. I don't buy games that aren't good.

Agreed. Kameo is mediocre but it's definitely worth playing if you like platformers and it definitely doesn't deserve the hate it receives.

For canadians: Roger's Video has 2 for 40 games going on quite frequently. figure out when they pull the rental copies and be first to show up to get the best selection. EB games takes in these games for store credit, and if EB games is running promos you get an even better deal. For example, using the 2 for 40 deal I got (In april)

Turning Point: Fall of Liberty (PS3) - Traded in for $40 store credit
Devil May Cry 4 (PS3) - Traded in for $33 store credit
Devil May Cry 4 (PS3) - Kept this copy
Oblivion GOTY Edition (PS3) - Sold on ebay for $46

end result: for $88 I got $73 in EB games credit, $46 cash and a copy of DMC4.

Roger's also had a special where you could get 2 for 1 on games priced for $9.99. So I got.. (in may)

Scarface (Wii)
Ratatouille (Wii)
Far Cry (Wii)
Star Trek Conquest (Wii)
MLB Power Pros (Wii)
Fantastic 4 (PS3)

for $33 including tax.

end result: Since EB games was running trade 3 get 1 free, I traded in all 6 games at EB games for Littlebig Planet and Resident Evil 5. I effectively get LBP and RE5 for $15 each.

If you know where to look, gaming deals aren't too hard to come by. Good idea for a thread BTW.

I dunno but I just have this thing about buying every game new

ZENFOLDER, have you tried searching for miss-spelled titles? people misspell game, Even CONSOLES, and they get no bids! you should try it, It's actually pretty good. I saw an "XOBX 360 Elite" go for about $200 ($250 max) because only 1-2 guys bid on it, and it was the real deal, pics with his username written on a piece of paper... Poor sap was from Canada...

I can understand if you have something to pre-occupy you, but I will not buy any new-release games off of E-bay or the VGC store. Why? because I buy them on weekends more often than weekdays (No shipping service that I know of moves packages over the weekend), I want to play the game on LAUNCH DAY, and convenience... If I want the game today, I can have it. Also, there are some games that you want to stay up for

Ebay is pretty good for getting used (or cheap new) games though, but really, I have bought a few old used GameStop games for ultra cheap (like between $5 - $10).

But speaking of low-price games, my local wal-mart (I know, what was I doing there?) had a bunch of old(er) games on sale for $10. About 55% were for PS2 (I wanted Killer 7, but I only have a GC), about 10% were for GameCube, about 20% were for XBOX, and about 15% were for XBOX 360...

There were a couple good ones, but they were mainly for PS2. my bro bought Test Drive Unlimited for 360, and I bought the Sonic "nex-gen" game for 360... I know it's not that great of a game, but hey, it was for $10 and they were probably going to throw it away anyway... Playing so far though, It's Reeeeeaaaally hard. But hey, I consider it $10 well spent, and I'm glad that I bought it then, because it gives me something to do now that I'm going to be "Wii-less" for "10 - 16 business days"...

As you get older, that sense of urgency leaves you.

To everyone else, maybe you don't understand. I actually make money off of playing games, using Ebay. My games are free.

I don't really have to worry if Kameo or Gun aren't AAA titles, they are free. I will resell them for 20 bucks each, after I beat them and buy Alone in the Dark with the profit.

From selling my old games, I now have quite a stockpile of new 360 games, a new HD TV, and the ability to buy another one if I saw fit.

No random lucky deal is gonna reach the consistancy of rock bottom prices and profit potential when it comes to gaming.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Holy cow, dude, you have that page ultra zoomed in.

If you're from the UK, you can also pick up used games real cheap from GAME, or Blockbusters (not so much Gamestation). We picked up Timesplitters 3 the other day for 97p. Most Gamecube/Xbox games are under a pound, and old PS2 games are usually just a couple of quid.

In Blockbusters you often get 3 for 20 smackers as well. My brother also picked up Crackdown and Halo 3 for 30 big ones the other day.

I would give more anecdotal evidence, but I've run out of ways to say "pound".

I don't see many GC games cheap.... perhaps because I am looking for 1st party things like Pikmin which are still in slight demand. (Pikmin I have seen cheapest at £6 while Pikmin 2 I haven't seen for less than £15)

Well, that could be down to the fact that our Gamecube was mainly our sports-game platform for the generation.

I never buy used games, because I want to support the developers and the industry as a whole. Rarely do I buy used games, and that´s only when I´m not sure if I will like the game.
However, I do sell some of my old games over ebay. Those that I haven´t liked much and those that don´t have any personal collector value get sold. That way I partially fund my new HW & SW buys. Same thing about consoles, I sold my GC just before buying a Wii. I won´t sell my ps2 anytime soon though, since ps2 emulation is far from perfect.

I've bought dozens of used games on the cheap (and sold my old games) through the following sites:

gametz.com
goozex.com
half.com
eBay
Amazon marketplace

I've never received a game in poor condition. I once received a game that was advertised as including the retail box, but actually only included the jewel case. The seller reimbursed me $5 for that, so I ended up paying $7 for the game.
