Nice ps3 sales, I'm more interested in how next week will turn out though.

Edit: Oh and as usual wii sales are nice too.

Well now.. MGS4 and the bundle are doin there job in boosting sales for the ps3.. now sony can use this momentum and ride the wave with the other great games to come this year.. and then we will see somethin great next year in sales with the final fantasys coming out...

just a thought.. but if they make FF VII.. and bundle it.. and limited edition system as well... what would it do compared to the MGS4 bundle and release... ( just a what if )

mm... great, NA numbers weren`t updated.
instead ~60k average per week in may(NPD), it`s still ~50k according to VG.

75k 80GB bundles.
60k average per week.
+180% from walmart, with other stores that`s probably another ~60-100k.

It should be around 200-235k.

But maybe later numbers will be adjusted. =) NPD will come only in middle of July.
Well, atleast PS3 outsold Wii ww. =)

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.


Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

I have a feeling that the re-introduction of the 80gig (and thus BC), also helped sales a bit. Not saying that MGS4 pushed a few systems, but I have a feeling a good few systems were pushed because of the 80gig. And not only was the 80gig re-introduced, but it's also the first bundle America has seen in a while. So it's sort of like a triple boost. MGS4, bundle, and the 80gig re-introduction.

It'll be interesting to see how sales hold up next week.

@DMeisterJ: I agree with you. The PS3 really did great this week, and MGS4 will have a great week as well. Sony and Konami should be quite happy with the results.

I believe Sony will try to bundle every big exclusive they have in the future. DOn't be surprise to see LBP bundle, R2 bundle and of course, Socom Bundle.


It has worked for them now, there's no reason it won't drive up sales again.

Also, this might be their way of artifically delay a price cut.

Idk, most FF fans already have or will be getting a ps3 for Versus and XIII, so by the time there is a VII remake there will already be fans of the game with the console.
